Have you been asked if you are interested in WAMBy messynessPosted 6/26/24 471 views
I was in a meeting today and it was about a new data system that would monitor a wide area
Now obviously the team that developed it didn't realise that giving it the acronym WAM for wide area monitor would make my day so I couldn't help smirking every time they said WAM.
I think my smirking must have been noticed by a female colleague who I knew enough to talk to in a group setting but I wouldn't say we were friends.
At the end of the meeting as we were filling out to return to our various offices I found her walking beside me
"Are you interested in WAM" she asked me
My brain did a somersault and was disconnected from my tongue for a second or two and before I had regained my powers of speech she clarified "wide area monitoring "
"I have wamed before and got some interesting data" is what I should have said or some other innuendo ladden quip
Instead I just said it seems like an interesting product
Before we could say anything else her line manager asked her something and they walked away from me.
Damn my slow witted brain.
Now I am going to have to try and figure out if she knows what WAM means to me. I am almost certain she does by her smile when she asked and the slightly embarrassed correction.
No I don't want advice because I am fairly certain I know all the advice anyway.
I just wondered if any of you been asked a similar question and what was your response
P.S. If by some miracle you read this and realise it's you I am talking about the next email you send me end it UMD
