I've been into wet & messy clothes and for what seems like forever and once I found out how fun a dunk tank is (to be a dunker or a dunkee) I just can't get enough.
There was a time years ago I was just out driving around and saw a sign for a carnival so of course I had' to go see if there was a dunk tank. Didn't take me long to find a dunk tank with a teenage girl manning the booth but nobody on the seat as I approached. She explained she was waiting for somebody to get dunked, "But I don't have anybody right now." (it had just opened) I said, "Well you'd look good up there & she replied that, "No, I was in there all day yesterday!" I then offered to pay full price and I only wanted one' throw if she'd sit there. I even said I'd move an extra ten feet back from where the table was. She asked, "Just one throw?" I said yes and if I missed I'd sit for her and gave her a dollar as she said okay.
I took the softball and I did move around ten feet further back & made a couple of practice warm up tosses' as far as trying to get a feel for the throw I'd need to make. As she sat on the seat in her yellow t-shirt & jeans I figured I had to arc' a throw in as it was about 20-25 feet, so I threw high and as the ball sailed and arced back down I was shocked when it was right on target as far as right down the middle and surprising to me it hit the target square! There was a microphone above her and all I heard was a clank' "Shit!" & Splash ! ! !
She was bummed! "Damn, she said, I wasn't gonna do this today & didn't bring any dry clothes!" As she climbed out she sheepishly said thanks but I did kinda feel bad about her no dry clothes so I offered to sit for her anyway for about a half hour. Long and short of it? I got soaked, a lot' and I enjoyed it as well as watching her getting dunked that one time.
