This is one of my longer stories so I'll post it in two parts.

The Mud Business

I'm in the mud business. Drilling mud to be exact - used for drilling water wells and directional boring for utility pipes and fiber optic sleeves. The oil and gas guys buy from the big companies, not small operations like mine. I bought the Drilling Mud Company from my uncle, who ran it out of an old warehouse in an even older industrial park. During the boom in drilling a few years back I made a lot of money and decided to remodel the facility to make it more efficient and have some accommodation for my mud play.

I buy various kinds of clay from the mines and also long-strand polymers, which are very slimy when mixed with water. I sell the raw materials in 100 pound bags and do custom mixes for customers who want a specific combination of clay and polymer. The end result is a very slippery and slimy mixture perfect for cooling and lubricating drill bits. I also added a mixing facility for customers who need small batches of drilling mud ready to use in liquid form.

Needless to say, it can be dirty work. Especially when the customer has us deliver the product to muddy job sites. When I bought the company I inherited Harry, a long time employee of my uncle, and a younger worker who had been there a just a year. As the economic downturn decreased the amount of drilling, I had to lay off the younger guy. Fortunately he found another job fairly quickly.

Harry, my remaining employee, walked into my office one day and informed me that he wanted to sell Amway products with his wife and that I should look for a new employee. He agreed to stay on until I got someone hired.

With the current economy my help-wanted add brought over one hundred applications. After reading way too many badly written resumes I whittled the number down to ten and started the interview process. Some guys were put off by the fact that they would get dirty each day, despite the shower and locker room that I had added. Others didn't seem terribly motivated to do any manual labor.

Having done all of the hard work myself when I apprenticed to my uncle before buying the business, I knew every part of the warehouse job and exactly how much labor it required. I needed an employee willing to do a hard day's work.

I was starting to get frustrated by the end of the 7th interview and dreaded running out of candidates before finding someone suitable. So I was quite surprised when Andy entered my office for his interview. Surprised that someone would go to a job interview in what might be described as skinhead gear. He was in his early 30s and he had ridden his Buell motorcycle to the interview.

He took off his helmet and leather jacket and we shook hands. He was wearing 30-hole Underground boots with white soccer socks showing at the top, his snug Levis 501 bleachers tucked inside the boot shafts. A heavy-metal band t-shirt, suspenders, hair and full beard cut in a #2 crop, a few tattoos and earrings completed his look. I had the feeling that he might have taken out some of his piercings before the interview.

He was about 6 feet tall and had a muscular build. The Levis fit quite nicely and I must admit that I was intrigued. As we started to talk it was apparent that he was an intelligent fellow who liked manual work, despite his college degree in biology. And he had a very engaging personality. Since it would just be me and my warehouse man working together, it was important that I have a hard working employee who was easy to get along with.

At the end of the interview I told Andy that I would let him know within two days about the job. When he shook hands with me he said, "I think I would really enjoy working in this business." And he had a big grin on his face when he said that.

The last two interviews did not go well so after checking Andy's references, all good, I called him to offer the job. He sounded elated on the phone and was OK with the starting wage, which I offered to increase after a 90 day probationary period if I was satisfied with his work.

I decided to train Andy myself, rather than have Harry do it. That way I could make sure that Andy learned the right procedures. I wished Harry well with the Amway business and bid him farewell. Since business was down, I didn't have as much office work as I did before, and I wanted to spend some time with Andy to see how he reacted to the dirty parts of the job.

Week 1: Andy starts his new job

Andy showed up on his bike, which turned out to be his only transportation, for the first day of work. I must admit he looked sharp on that bike. It was bright red. Other than a grubbier pair of boots, he was dressed much like he had for the interview. Since we were going to be working in the warehouse and making deliveries I was in my Levis 501s and 18" Wesco logger boots, but I was wearing my boots under my jeans legs.

We went through the warehouse and I explained the various types of clay and polymer that were used for different types of drilling. The customer order and inventory system was quite simple and Andy picked up on it very quickly.

After explaining how the dry ingredients were mixed in a special machine that contained the dust we went into the wet mixing room. Here the dry mixes were combined with water to produce small quantities of ready-to-use drilling mud. The resulting liquid mud was put in special high strength plastic containers in a steel wire frame that could be re-used. The mixing machine could be a bit cantankerous at times but most of the time it did the job.

The whole mechanism was mounted on a grate over a pit to contain any mud that spilled out of the mixing machine. The pit under the machine was piped to a big plastic lined pond in the back of the property. We had to be OSHA inspected and just dumping it on the ground was not acceptable.

Then we went to the bay where the liquid mud containers were cleaned out and re-used. There was another pit with a grate over it and as the containers were washed out with a hose, the fluid flowed out to the pond in the back of the property. We saved up the containers until we were almost out of empty ones and then did a mass cleaning. I had a couple of pair of rubber hip boots and heavy rubber rain suits to wear when doing this dirty work.

I thought I detected a growing bulge in Andy's crotch when I was showing him this gear. The final area I showed Andy was the locker and shower room, which was part of my remodel of the warehouse. There was an area to hose yourself off if you were muddy (and the requisite pit to catch the mud) and a shower room with four shower heads. When I asked him if he was ready to get to work, it was clear that his enthusiasm was hard to contain.

The first day's deliveries were pretty mundane, just six pallet loads of clay and two of polymer. I showed Andy how to operate the fork lift and we got the truck loaded quickly. The delivery truck was small enough that a special license was not needed to drive it. I took the wheel and we were off to our first customer, a water well drilling company not far away.

The day went quickly and by the time we got back it was quitting time. I asked him how he liked the job so far and he said, "I enjoyed learning about all the different parts of the job but I can't wait to do the dirty stuff."

I assured him that he would soon get his wish. We joked about Mike Rowe and how this job would rate on his "Dirty Jobs" TV show.

The rest of the week was fairly routine and Andy picked up on the procedures quickly. The check on his driver's license came back clean so I started to have him drive the truck with me riding shotgun. He was a very good driver - at least when I was along - so by Friday I sent him out on his own while I worked on orders for the next week. We were both tired after a busy week and I was pleased with my new hire.

Week 2: Our big mud adventure

It was raining hard when I got up on Monday morning. This was going to make the day most challenging since we had a delivery to a mine up in the hills. When I got to the warehouse I was surprised to see that Andy was there already. He was waiting in the rain, and had on a full leather racing suit and some nice motocross style boots.

He brought in a backpack with a change of clothes. I was a bit surprised when he put on a new pair of dark indigo Levis 501s since he usually wore bleachers. They were nice and snug and showed off his ass quite nicely. I thought that maybe he wanted to look more like the boss, since I always wore dark 501s to work.

I took care of office work while Andy got the truck loaded. It was a heavy load, filling the truck to capacity. We got on the road as quickly as possible, since I was worried about the roads up to the mine in this bad weather. The drive up there was not too bad but the rain was steady all the way. It took longer to unload than expected because another truck was at the dock ahead of us. I was growing concerned about the continued rain and the condition of the dirt road back to civilization.

We eventually got the truck unloaded and back on the road headed down the mountain. I had decided to let Andy drive. There was a lot of clay in the soil and the roads were slick so he took it easy. But we were totally unprepared when the truck started to move sideways. We were in the grips of a giant mudslide as part of the hillside next to the road was sliding down onto the road and pushing the truck down the embankment towards the creek.

We sat there in panic for a moment, wondering if the truck was going to stay upright. I was just about to tell Andy to bail out of the cab when the motion stopped. Unfortunately the mud was up above the bottom of the doors so we couldn't open them.

I got out the cell phone and called the mine. The foreman had been worried about us driving down the road in the storm and when I told him that we were stuck in a mud slide, he said that he would send some heavy equipment down to help. They needed to get the road cleared for the mine workers and truck traffic too.

Andy was getting antsy about staying in the cab and thought it would be a good idea to bail. I got a couple of yellow rubberized Carhartt rain jackets out from behind the seats and we decided to climb out of the window on the driver's side since it looked a bit safer.

Well it seemed like a good idea at the time. When he jumped out, he landed in mud up to his waist. "Hmmmmm, maybe that wasn't the best idea," I said. Andy was speechless for a moment as he savored the pressure of the mud pressing against his legs and crotch. Not knowing if the truck was going to be pushed farther towards the creek I decided to join Andy in the mud.

Besides, I couldn't let him have all the fun. After the always enjoyable feeling of sinking into deep mud, I could feel the water in the mud slowly seeping into the denim of my Levis. It was a familiar and most enjoyable sensation and my growing dick responded as usual.

"Wow! This is incredible!," were the first words out of Andy's mouth.

"Well that's one way of looking at our situation," I responded. "You certainly got your wish to get dirty today. I think your new Levis are officially initiated. But I think we need to make our way back up to the road ahead of the slide so we can meet the guys from the mine."

Easier said than done. We struggled in the thick mud and found that progress was measured in inches instead of feet. After a half hour we had been able to move all of ten feet. The rain was still coming down but fortunately it was a warm day and the mud was warm too so it didn't sap the heat out of our bodies.

The sight of a front loader and backhoe on the road was most welcome. The guys saw us out in the sea of mud and stopped their machines before they could become trapped in the mudslide. We yelled to each other and hatched a plan. The operator of the backhoe extended his bucket out horizontally as far as possible so we could climb up on it. He would then swing it back around and put us on the road.

But we still had another 15 feet to move in the mud to get to the outstretched backhoe. I finally told Andy that we were going to have to swim. He had no idea what I was talking about so I just demonstrated. Once I got horizontal on top of the mud I was able to half swim and half army crawl to make my way toward the outstretched backhoe bucket.

I waited for Andy to follow me. Of course we got totally muddy crawling through the mud and in the excitement of it all I shot quite a load of jizz into my Levis. I had Andy climb up on the bucket and he rode it around a half circle and then dropped off on the road. Then the operator swung around and picked me up and soon I was standing on firm ground again.

After the heavy equipment operators looked at the mudslide they decided that the best plan was to go back to the mine and wait for the rain to stop. Then they would come back and clear the mud off the road.

The first thing we did when we got back to the mine was to hose each other down since we were covered in mud. Andy's stiffie was quite visible in his dark snug Levis as I ran the hose over his crotch, as was mine when he did the same for me. The mine foreman found us some well-used Carhartt overalls, tall rubber boots and heavy wool socks for us to wear, which I must say felt rather sexy as I fantasized about the hunk who wore them before me.

We helped the mine crew with the preparations for the road repair in the morning. By now it was late afternoon and since everyone was stuck at the mine for the duration of the storm, we all raided the vending machines for food. The forecast was for the rain to stop during the night. The disaster supply room had lots of blankets and pillows for such an emergency.

Andy and I got assigned to sleep in the engineering department trailer and it was a bit like camping as we set up our blankets on the floor of the office. Before we went to sleep Andy was like a little kid talking about how cool our rescue was and how amazing it felt to be stuck in deep mud.

By morning our wet clothes had dried but our boots were still wet. Since we had thick dry socks we put them back on anyway. After some coffee and stale vending machine donuts we set out with the road crew to see what we could do to get our truck back on the road.

Overnight the rain had stopped and it was a bright sunny day. The bulldozers and front loaders made good progress clearing the mud from the road, which was in surprisingly good shape. The mudslide had covered it but not damaged the road bed.

Then they started to scoop the mud out from around the truck. Andy and I had some shovels from the mine tool shed and after the backhoe got as much mud as possible from around the truck we started digging by hand to uncover the rest of the undercarriage.

Of course we got completely muddy again and Andy certainly went the extra mile to crawl under the truck to clean out the area around the drive shaft. A water truck with a hose was brought in and Andy had lots of fun spraying the mud out of the wheels, brakes and other vital areas. He got totally soaked and covered again in mud while explaining to me that the liked to be "thorough."

Finally it was time to try to start the engine. After cranking briefly it sprang to life. No water had gotten into the air intake and we were now ready to attach the tow line to the chassis and get the truck back up on the road. They had put down some gravel along the path the truck would take to stiffen up the mud and increase the traction.

The guys from the mine were experts at rigging and soon the truck was up on solid ground again. I put some plastic sheeting over the truck seats and after thanking the mine foreman Andy and I returned to the warehouse. On the way we stopped at the truck wash and got at least another 100 pounds of mud off the truck.

Once we got back to the warehouse we hosed each other off outside the shower room and then as we showered we took off our boots, Levis and other clothes. Andy was not shy about showering with me. We both had a change of clothes in our lockers and were soon back to a more mundane pace of work, loading the truck for another delivery.

Watch this space for Part 2, cumming on Friday evening.

My idea of an ideal job, only going in the complete opposite direction for workwear, with a three piece suit, collar & tie, balmoral leather boots, and a bowler hat instead.
