Prologue: The Messy Comeuppance of Jennifer VandersplatStory by PieSlingerPosted 4/24/19 472 views
Not so long ago in New York City's Upper West Side there was a girl named Jennifer, born to an incredibly wealthy family and adoring parents. She was given every opportunity a little girl could ever want as well as love, attention and of course gifts.
When it came time for high school however, her parents made the decision to move to Los Angeles, California. Jennifer kicked and screamed, but her mother and father did not relent.
California presented a unique challenge; "How am I supposed to rule the school when no one knows me? I'm pretty, sure, but I can't get by on just name and looks alone...this place is packed with rich little punks...what to do?" As she thought this, she spied a sign in the hallway for class elections at the end of the month. She thought hard and after her first day, had devised a cunning plan.
Jennifer came to discover her new California school wasn't immune to cliques. She observed carefully and identified pretty, somewhat popular girls from each of the three main cliques: the Nerds, the Jocks and the Preps.
Nerd girl Tiffany was the first and easiest to befriend. Jennifer could tell being the target of all the nerd boys' affections was grating on her. Jennifer introduced herself by asking for directions and walked with her to class. All she needed was a little makeover, which Jennifer was happy to provide. If she was gonna have minions, they need to at least look hot.
Jock girl Colleen was easy too. Luckily Jennifer was in her gym class and they bonded quickly over their mutual interests in gymnastics and ice skating, and once again, with a little makeover and some wardrobe suggestions, she was looking fierce!
Preppy girl Whitney was tough. Already popular in her own right, didn't really need a makeover and had plenty of friends. "Ugh, I have nothing in common with her"...Jennifer thought hard and again devised something sinister.
She found a couple of dumb goons to play masked thugs. All it took was a bat of her long eyelashes, a pleading look of her icy blue eyes, and they were putty in her hands. When the robbery happened, Jennifer stayed just out of eyesight. Whitney screamed and cried and begged them not to hurt her. When all of a sudden Jennifer came around the corner, pepper spray in hand and maced the two nitwits!
They hugged and immediately became friends that night. Whitney was so shaken she asked Jennifer to spend the night at her place. As they talked through the night, it turned out they both *did* have something in common: being rich heiresses. They loved the same brands, the same designers and their wardrobes were nearly identical.
Despite their different cliques, they all had one thing in common: wanting to be just *a little bit* more popular. So Jennifer invited them over all over to her house and said "There's an easy way all of us can be more popular. We could all run for Student Council!" The girls agreed and with the combined popularities of all three, Jennifer got exactly what she wanted.

Jennifer's plan had worked like a charm. She had her status, she had her minions, and before long everyone knew who she was. She even had a newfound power over every clique as the four of them were in control of all the club money in the school. Sure, she had to saddle a few less pretty lackeys for the next four years, but it all helped make her Queen of the school, the minions got popular...everybody won, in her eyes.
After graduation, they each promised to stay in touch but Jennifer had other plans. To her, they had each exhausted their usefulness, and she often made up excuses when she didn't feel like dealing with them. This lasted 3 years until her 21st birthday, when everything changed...
Jennifer and the girls had been partying pretty hard, and once they got Jennifer home she immediately went to sleep. As she snoozed deeply, the girls were trying to edit all the selfies they had taken that night and when it became too much to do on a phone, they decided to use Jennifer's iMac. They struggled with the password but eventually guessed correctly (queen). They started importing photos and editing when Tiffany started snooping and found something juicy...a digital diary. Curious, she opened it and inside they read the truth. Jennifer had been dodging their get- togethers for the last three years. Going further back, they discovered Jennifer had just used them to gain popularity, and never truly liked them at all! They also found an entry about her calling out sick from work for dripping coffee on her jacket, and mentions her hatred and fear of 'all things messy'.
Saddened, then angered, they plotted their sweet revenge that night while she slept and waited patiently for the perfect opportunity...
