Mark was sitting in his flat flicking through the internet when he spotted an advert "Presenter in a new TV gameshow, You'll require a good sense of humour".
This sounded interesting particularly as Mark had just been made redundant and had always been keen to enter the media industry. This sounds interesting he thought so rang the phone number in the advert. It was an answerphone message inviting him to leave his number with a short message why they he was interested in the position.
Mark, who was a reasonably good looking guy in his mid 30's, left what he hoped was a coherent message and hoped he would hear back soon. Later that evening Mark was delighted to receive a call back . The girl that rang introduced herself as Penny the Producer of the show. She explained this new show had the working title of "Pies and Prizes". Each episode would involve two members of the audience selected at random to take part in a game which could see them win the star prize, either a holiday or a car.
Mark asked "But what about the word pies in the title? Sounds intriguing".
Penny laughed "Ah I thought you might ask about that. Well during the show when the contestants answer questions correctly someone will get pied! And you may have guessed that could be you! We can't really expect to mess up members of the public. Anyway if you're still interested we are holding an audition next Wednesday. I can send you through the details. Oh and bring a change of clothes and a towel"
Mark was intrigued and agreed although slightly wary.


So Wednesday arrived and Mark drove to the address provided which was a small unit on an Industrial Estate He was wearing a light blue polo top and chinos.. He rang the bell and was pleasantly surprised when a young petite blonde wearing a tight fitting white T shirt and blue jeans opened the door.
"Hi. You must be Mark. I'm Dani, come in. Would you like a coffee?"
Mark was immediately more relaxed as he followed the pert behind of Dani into a large open space with a couple of chairs..
Dani introduced him to the two other ladies present. "This is Vicki" she said introducing an attractive brunette in her late 20's with shoulder length hair wearing a casual top and jeans. Vicki smiled at Mark "Hi I'm the Compere of this show and Dani, as she hasn't told you yet, is one of our presenters"
Mark shook hands and trying to make light conversation looked at Dani and said "Hi. So you're going to get pied too then"
Dani smiled back at Mark "Oh I don't think so Mark, that job is set for you".
The other lady present then introduced herself, "Hi Mark I'm Penny, We spoke on the phone." Penny was an attractive lady in her mid 30's very smartly dressed in a light blue business suit with a skirt just above her knee which showed of her long legs. She continued "Now let me explain. Today we are just going to see how you fit into the format of the show. As I explained members of the public will be playing games to win money and our special feature is that one of our presenters will get rather messy! So hence the need for a good sense of humour"
"I'm guessing that the presenter is going to be me then " quipped Mark. "Well i guess if I want to make it in TV i have got to start somewhere"
"Exactly" said Vicki "Look at people like Holly Willoughby. She started by getting messed up on childrens TV and look at her now"
Actually the thought of working with this pair of attractive girls was beginning to appeal to Mark even though he realised he might be getting a bit messy in the process.
"Anyway" said Penny "Lets try you out Mark. Dani can you bring in the trolley" with a conspiring wink in her direction. Penny sat down on one of the chairs whilst Dani emerged pushing a trolley laden with 8 large multi coloured cream pies. Mark looked a bit concerned, He had perhaps thought he might get a couple of pies, not this sort of quantity.
"OK Ladies please start" said Penny.
Vicki and Dani needed little encouragement as they each picked up a pie from the trolley, A smiling Vicki moved in front of Mark and slowly but deliberately smashed the yellow cream pie in a pie crust into Mark's face. Immediately followed by Dani doing exactly the same with a red coloured pie. Mark was stunned but kept his composure and realising this was part of the audition started to wipe the mess from his face. As soon as he could see again Vicki moved in with 2 cream pies which she pushed firmly into his face and top of his head massaging it in completely. Mark realised he was a loser today and accepted his fate as Dani walked behind him and delivered a perfect pie sandwich to each side of his face. By now Mark was completely engulfed in pies, aware that both Vicki and Dani were laughing and once he again partly cleared his face noticed Penny with a wry grin looking at him from his chair.
"Well" spluttered Mark "Do i get the job?"
Penny looked at the two girls who both gave her the thumbs up. "You'll be pleased to know Mark, we will certainly give it serious consideration and you will hear from me later today"
Mark was just about to move away when Vicki spoke " Hang on Mark I think there are two pies left, We can't let them be wasted can we"
Mark rising to the occasion sarcastically replied "Oh well you had better let me have them" and was hit by the two remaining pies delivered again int5o his face by Vicki and Dani.
At this point Dani helped Mark to the door marked Changing room, where he was delighted to see a shower. No wonder he was advised to bring a change of clothes!
What had he let himself into he mused?

Outside Penny was speaking to the two girls. "Well girls I think we may have found the perfect stooge and final member of the team. Do you agree?"
Vicki smiled "Definitely I think we could have some fun here". Dani added "Just what the show needed!"

Mark eventually clean and tidy after his shower and changed into more casual jeans and polo shirt was about to leave when Penny called out. "Hey Mark don't worry about the phone call tonight. I can offer you the job now. Give me your address I'll send through a contract. We are filming the first episode next week!"
Mark was delighted even though he had no idea of salary or many other details that he would usually need before accepting a job. With a broad smile he shook hands with Penny and received a kiss on the cheek from Vicki and Dani.
Wow he thought on the drive home just what have I done........"
