Ethan was so excited! He finally got the gig for his magician career and hoped this could take him beyond. Ever since he saw a magic performance when he was younger, he had been interested in magic. Of course, there were some doubts about the idea of magic and what others had said to him, but he did not care. The number of people were few with his family and some friends that still believed in him. But that did not deter him at all. He was determined to make a name for himself in the magician world.

His gig was at a fancy restaurant. From what he read on about the restaurant, this place was huge for rising stars and the reviews were 5 stars. He was able to get a spot at 6:30.

After taking a shower, Ethan freshened himself up so he could make a great first impression. He put gel in his smooth black hair, giving off a wavy look, then did some skin care routine for himself.

Then he got dressed. He first started with his white dress socks before putting on a white dress shirt then proceeding to put on his black slacks, tucking his dress shirt. After that, he placed a black cummerbund around his waist and a black bow tie around the collar and his neck. He then placed his black, lace up, patent leather dress shoes on his sock covered feet. The final piece was his black tuxedo tail jacket. And to top it off, he had a signature black top hat, a daisy near his jacket's pocket and white gloves around his hand.

He admired himself in his mirror, doing a few silly things with a wand he bought for this occasion. He practiced really hard for this moment, hoping that he wouldn't mess this up for himself, even though this was his first gig.

His ride arrived at 5 o'clock (he preferred to be early) as his assistant was driving them to their destination. His assistant's name is Josh, a 31 year old redhead. Josh had been Ethan's friend since they discovered the same interest of becoming a magician. Unfortunately, only Ethan became a magician as Josh was his assistant. The reasoning behind was unknown but he still supported Ethan, nonetheless. He dressed himself with a white tuxedo shirt, a black cummerbund, a black bow tie, slacks, and black Calvin Klein 'Bernard' Venetian loafers for this occasion. As Ethan entered the car, he got a good glimpse of Josh and loved his attire for the night of their gig. The same was said about himself from Josh and both of them started to head to the restaurant were their career awaited.

The ride went for quite a while, the two passengers talking about their potential acts to perform to 'wow' the crowd. Ethan had it all planned out as Josh would help with the assistance parts of the show. And then they arrived to the restaurant.

They arrived at 5:55, entering through the back and setting up their equipment for their performance. Ethan took a quick look at the audience: many men and women dressed in formal attire either eating from their food, sipping their drinks, or waiting to be served. Ethan's excitement turned to nervous but then shifted to excitement for his first performance. And at this fancy restaurant, he was bounded to be discovered.

The magician duo planned their approach: Josh would first arrive on stage then present Ethan using the classic elevator under the stage with a smoke bomb trick. While it wasn't magic, it still seemed mysterious to the audience how did not know the secret. Getting ready for his performance, Ethan took his wand and Josh got ready to enter onstage. Then the announcer called their names from the speakers. This was their moment. Their moment to become famous.

Unfortunately, things did not go as plan in the beginning. When trying to raise from the elevator Ethan had the tails of this jacket get stuck when he was rising. He got it out, but he ruined the effect. The audience just gave him unamused looks for this act. Ethan began to perform a few acts to enthrall said audience with every classic trick in the book, even card tricks didn't amuse the audience. One his last trick, Ethan and Josh attempted their own "magic" trick, but alas it did not even get one clap.

Instead it got a hurling object to Ethan's face. A whole lemon meringue pie. The cream sputtered all over his face, some reaching his white dress shirt and black tuxedo jacket. It seemed as if dessert was on his menu. He gained a shock expression on his face, mouth open with eyes closed before briefly opening them. This got the audience laughing, much to his misfortune. Eventually the other audience members began to throw their desserts (mostly pies) at the duo. The waiters even brought out trays of pies for the victims.

The onslaught went on for some time, each blow leaving crust and cream on Ethan and Josh. Each impact ruined their attire completely, bits of cream and crust raining upon them with no end. The onslaught did eventually stop... and the audience all laughed at their cream coated attire and their horrible performance.

By the time the onslaught stopped, the stage was coated in cream and crust from the various pies thrown at the duo. It was after that they took their leave, trudging their dress shoes on the pie infested floor. They had brought a mirror along for some undistinguished reason and looked at their unfortunate attire pelted in pies.

Ethan's face sported cream from, what he could distinguish, key lime and lemon meringue. His black bow tie was crooked and covered in cream, as well as his daisy. Along with his black tuxedo jacket and white tuxedo shirt, crust covered nearly every inch of himself. His slacks had plenty of pie stains, from chocolate and pumpkin pie. His black patent leather patent dress shoes were coated in the fallen pie crust. His formerly blonde hair was now sporting various cream colors. His gloves and hat also sported plenty of crust and cream. Overall, his appearance was not for the best.

Josh didn't look any better. Since they were a duo, Josh received his fair share of pies. His white tuxedo shirt now had red stains from strawberry pies and his tie was crooked from the fight. His slacks had cream and crust from the pies that struck him. Even his loafers had been covered in the same fallen pie crust and cream, even in the inside. The redhead's hair had the same "highlights" as his blonde friend's.

Seeing how this night was not going to be any better for them, Ethan, reluctantly, decided to call it night from the hit-the-aspiring-magician-and-assistant-with-pies incident. Josh immediately agreed to this, not wanting to have public humiliation no more. This led to their only and last time trying to appease anymore people with their skills.
