Colleen Collison was born to parents Maggie and James Collison, who were in turn the grand-children of two families of Irish immigrants who had prospered as coal miners at the turn of the 20th century. Today, Collison Energy is a titan of industry, leading the energy sector in innovation, creating millions of new jobs across the country in wind, solar and nuclear power.
Colleen grew up with 3 older brothers and was the baby sister, who grew to be into quite a tomboy. It wasn't unusual to see her rough-housing with her brothers with her long hair tied in pigtails to keep it out of the way during a fight. She quickly grew to love sports of all varieties especially field hockey, soccer and volleyball.
Colleen was perfectly happy being a tomboy, making friends mostly with other boys and only some of the girls on her teams. Never once did she envy the "girly-girls" until age 13. Just before her freshman year of high school she developed a deep crush on one of her male friends, Nick, on the boys' soccer team. Much to her devastation, he already had a girlfriend though: little miss goody-goody Shelby Hutchison. Colleen was crushed at what she saw the first time she glanced at them together in the hallway: a glamorous blonde cheerleader, perfect hair, teeth, skin, posture, body...of course. With her tomboy mannerisms there was no way he would ever consider her beautiful. Colleen was born with certain 'assets' but was never one to show off...until then. From that moment on she swore she'd catch his attention and steal him away from her, whatever it took.
Colleen began to focus all her efforts on more feminine sports, namely gymnastics, swimming and cheerleading. She spent hours that summer with a former Olympian hired by her surprised(albeit supportive) parents. It wasn't long before she saw real improvement in her skillsand was actually having fun. Her body became more tone, slender and her already buxom body was amplified with her new activities.
In terms of personality, Colleen is very Earth and health conscious. She was a dedicated vegetarian before high school and progressed to strict Veganism after starting. She abhors meat, processed food, sugars and anything artificial and looks down on anyone who isn't concerned about the planet, climate change, animal welfare, the ocean etc.
The first week of school was when cheer tryouts took place. Colleen's tryout for the cheerleading team was exceptional but the captain favored girls with "past cheer experience" and didn't make the cut. Frustrated and exasperated at her wasted summer, Colleen fell into a slump and began to reconsider joining into her old sports and being around her old friends again. Right up until a new glamorous blonde showed up at school the following week.
Her name was Jennifer Vandersplat. She was new in school but you'd have to travel pretty far to meet someone who hadn't tried Vandesplat BBQ Sauce. Even Colleen liked their salad dressings. And she wanted help getting votes for class president. She said she was even willing to pull some strings with the cheer captain if she spread some positive energy about her to all of Colleen's jock friends. For Colleen, the decision was a no-brainer.
