The wife of the couple buying the house we've been building stopped by again today to check out the progress. My crew and I can't bare her snobby attitude, but she is certainly easy on the eyes. Today she came wearing a gold silk button up blouse, tight black leathers pants, and black heels. The house is close to done, but we have not laid the sod yet, so the yard is just one big pile of dirt. After two straight days of rain, the yard became thick mud.

I saw her pull up in her Mercedes around noon and as she got out of the car and stepped onto the yard, she found her left heel in mud up to her ankle. She let out an immediate groan, and I knew what was about to be coming my way.

She came up to me and immediately threatened that the yard better have grass the next time she is here, saying "I don't want to step in any more disgusting mud. You have no idea how much these heels cost." She went to wash them off and then checked around the rest of the house.

As she headed out the front door to leave, she claimed the color of the door was too light, despite us using the color that was picked out. She proceeded to berate the painter in front of me and several other members of my crew. She told us she'd now be returning in the evening and that it better be fixed by then.

Now finally on her way out, she went to walk down the front steps. As she went to step down, the back of her heel caught the top step and she went into a free fall. No amount of effort could keep her standing. Just like that, we all heard a big splat. She was face down in several inch deep mud. Everyone else reacted to the sound and turned her way. All eyes were on her. It took a few seconds for her to lift her face out of the mud. We could hear her whisper "no, no, this can't happen to me." She slowly lifted herself out of the brown sludge and stood up to look back at us. Her mouth was wide open in disbelief, shocked at what had just happened. I asked if she needed any help, but she yelled out "No!" before I could even finish my sentence. She could not believe her humiliation was on full display for us to see. She was totally unrecognizable, going from stunning to a muddy silhouette. Wet mud covered every inch of her body. Her fancy clothes were ruined. Her face looked like a chocolate fudge cake. Her long hair was clumped together by the sticky mud.

She walked off without saying anything to anyone. As she got back toward her car, a group of people walking by shared a laugh at her now messy appearance, and she just turned her head down in humiliation. We couldn't help but share a laugh ourselves, as this lady finally got what was coming to her.
