3 Days in September--WednesdayStory by gungetankgirlPosted 8/8/20 492 views
This is part 1 of 4 and the first 3 are mainly setting everything up for part 4 and hopefully other future stories (assuming everyone doesn't hate it). I've marked it as coed as it is a story about a girl and a guy - but advanced warning that the messy part is on the guy.
Wednesday:
As a heads up straight away, if you're already querying why we're starting a story on a Wednesday, well I'll apologise now as there isn't much about this that is straightforward. Anyway, I've started digressing in the first sentence, doesn't bode well so I'll try and keep quiet for a bit.
"It's not Starbucks so why do they ask for your name" thought Callum as he queued for his morning coffee.
It is a nice little independent coffee shop though, even if the name, A Latte Fun, is very much not funny anymore. Or possibly ever.
The lady giving her name in front, Callum thought he heard Sally, was clearly not happy the mocha had been removed from the menu.
Callum placed her in her 40s probably, but someone clearly holding onto her youth. Not in a bad way at all, just wearing what he thought was younger, trendier clothes. She was actually very pretty and could very much pull it off. In his tired state he realised he was probably looking a little too much at her belly button in the slightly cropped top she was wearing. Head back up to her blond hair, tied up, and Callum flashes a sympathetic smile at her mocha plight.
She ordered a latte instead and so Callum can now get his morning cappuccino. He needs something to get his morning started.
"And your name" asked the...barista? Would you call them a barista if they're not actually making the coffee, pondered Callum.
"Helloooo, you come in here everyday, I know your name but you know I still have to ask, just in case it changes" smiled Sophie, and yeah lets call her a barista.
Callum thought Sophie was probably working full time here, she certainly served him at least 4 days out 5. They usually had a little chat, although Callum was usually far too tired to remember anything specific. She was always very cheerful though, and without meaning to revert to stereotype, a little on the plump side. And short. Callum is 6ft, so by no means a giant but he was definitely looking down on her. That would have meant for a very nice view if only she undid one more button on her shirt, which was already nice and tight.
Anyway back to giving his name...which whilst not really minding, he'd been known to have a rant before (probably whilst tipsy) about the pointlessness of it. Just so they can sound friendly when they hand the coffee out at the end.
"My name" smirked Callum as he suddenly had a jolt of energy and an idea to perk his morning up by more than just the caffeine hit.
"My name is mocha" said Callum, just about stifling a giggle at his own clever joke.
Sophie's initial reaction was confusion. For about 2 seconds. Then it hit her.
"Could you repeat your name again please" she said "I'm sorry, I didn't catch it the first time"
"It's mocha" said Callum cheerfully sticking to his plan.
"Are you really doing this to me?" questioned Sophie
"It's my name" replied Callum
And so it was written on the cup
Conveniently for Callum's plan, there was no queue behind him.
This meant Sophie moved along to help the other barista making the coffee's. This would mean that his would be made mere seconds after Sally's
"Sally" shouted the other barista
Sally glanced across to Callum, no words were said but glance clearly stated "why the fuck do they shout when we're standing right here!"
She grabbed her latte and moved to the sugar counter slightly to the right.
Then came Callum's moment
"Mocha" shouted the other barista, having been passed the cup by Sophie, who Callum was sure was smirking a little.
Callum virtually snatched it from the other barista's hand, a quick glance to Sophie, to see she was defo smirking, turned and made his way out
Sally was straight onto the barista and Callum was sure he heard "and why does HE get a mocha!!!" and he pretty much skipped out the door in delight at his meddling.
The rest on the day was entirely uneventful. Callum worked in an office, a back office for a bank in one of their small city hubs. He was 25 now, and whilst boring and only doing admin, it wasn't terribly paid for a first job out of uni. Although that first job has now lasted 3 years. It was a smallish department he worked in, 8 people at the moment although numbers did change as people moved around. At a guesstimate he'd say there was probably 150 maybe 200 in the whole building.
At 25 he was at the younger end for his department, not the youngest, there was someone straight from college, but the rest were 40s or 50s and he was one of only two guys. He didn't really stand out though, Callum would describe himself as average. Average job, at 6ft not much bigger than average height, likes average things, football, rugby (well any sport really) and the pub. He's a little on the chubby side not fat by any stretch but no 6 pack and no desire to go the gym to get one. What he isn't though is someone who can go out and work his magic with girls easily. A good solid 6 out of 10 but a little shy, one night stands weren't really his thing and whilst there may be occasional kissing on nights out, and a few dates here and there, he's not had a relationship lasting over 3 months since first year of uni.
Nonetheless, he enjoyed his night's out and giving the boring job "living for the weekend" was definitely a motto he could adhere to. It was made much easier now he shared a flat with his friend, Gregg. Both 6ft with blue eyes, Gregg was better with girls. Callum would admit Gregg is better looking and in better shape still no 6 pack but trimmer with a neat and tidy short hair cut and clean shaven was probably a better look than Callum's stubble and longer sweeping brown hair. The big thing Greg has over Callum is confidence not overly confident at all but enough to be considered an attractive quality.
Even though it was only Wednesday Callum was already looking forward to the Friday night out. Wasn't even going to be a big one, just him and Gregg, but Friday night football and students should be out. Still Thursday and Friday to get through though.
