What would be your choice(s) for a good background song for a WAM video? For a full WAM scene, pie in the face compilation, etc. For example, "Sugar, Sugar" by the Archies has a WAM feel to me.
I made a private compilation of various messings up of an ex girlfriend with 'That Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady'; another one really good for aggressive pie hits (with a rapid repeat edit) is the Beastie Boys' "So What'cha Want". One I discovered was Ray Charles' 'Do The Mess Around'
As Meathook says, avoid dubbing copyright music without licensing it. It's illegal (heaven knows we go on about intra-community piracy enough!) and the penalties if prosecuted can be extremely severe.
I use a Royalty Free music subscription for any music I put on commercial clips. There are some really high quality ones now that don't just sound like royalty free music. I couldn't use Goldfinger on a gold paint trailer - but they had a very appropriate parody of that distinctive booming orchestral intro in their catalogue.
Some social media platforms have licensing arrangements which means you can add copyright soundtracks - as long as it's generated on their platform, and stays there of course.
I think the general consensus is people don't like music added to WAM videos, they prefer the natural sounds of the sploshing?
Agree with @Trouso on being verfy careful with copyright music, in the early days we used to play music of the models' choice while shooting, which is why some of our oldest scenes are silent, we took the sound off to avoid copyright infringement.
TBH the ultimate soundtrack if someone was making a musical compilation would be to hire some musicians to do a parody of the Bee Gees "Stayin Alive", changed to "Stayin Unmessed".

True. We've established that this is the case over the years in various polls and threads:
People don't like music on the soundtracks during the paid for action. More specifically they don't want other people's choice of music on their soundtrack. Neither do people like silence.
There was a fashion in the 1980s and '90s of adding music soundtracks to videos. There was some idea it made them more 'professional'. I'm not just talking about soft porn either - across the board. I remember watching some old holiday home movies a family friend had had transferred from super 8 to VHS video back in the late eighties. Various pop songs (Madonna and a few others) were playing over the top. I asked if they had chosen these? No. The transfer company had added them quite unsolicited. An horrific imposition.

That initially came as a surprise to me as I'd always tended to watch WAM videos with the sound off. But I once got screamed at in email by someone for whom the sounds of the splats and drippages were a very major part of what they expected in WAM videos. After that we stopped the music and left the sound on instead.

Arrghhh! That's unforgiveable! One thing if someone asked for music to be added, but imposing it, unasked for, as you say, horrific. I'd have demanded a refund and/or rework.
I agree that any clips for sale should avoid music entirely. (Though there are many legitimate stock music sources now that didn't exist just a few years ago.)
As a buyer, I'd absolutely prefer ambient actual sound of the shoot/hearing the models.
BUT if you're just making a compilation for your own amusement, I'd throw in Hunny Hunny by Book of Love. A similar happy vibe like The Archies song.
Thanks for all the replies. My question wasn't regarding putting a background song on a video for sale. It was more of a theoretical question or a question regarding homemade compilation videos for personal use.
I have learned that everyone's taste is so different and some people are what I call "music snobs" aka ME.
I would rather hear the sounds of slop and whatnot. If you have a good song behind it? And the gal is doing something WITH the song? I find it super sexy.
Alas. We have all different age groups and music genres and music snobs around here. Steer clear unless it's something that everyone loves. Which is basically maybe just some pleasing beats and sounds.
But? I have so many songs I would like to wam to. There is a song by "felt-a tribute to Lisa bonet" called "dirty girl" I think I did a little dance and strip to it but I would love to do a strip and mess to it. It's underground hip hop. It's atmosphere and Murs. Not this shitty stuff you hear on the radio. But still. Some people don't like hip hop. Even if it's good to me and has all the right lyrics! I would post clips of the songs (copyright mindful of course) and see what people find most pleasing

If you're doing a compilation, it will be easier to match the pie hits to the beats of the music (e.g. the Slapstick Stuff video posted above). That won't really work so well for a full scene, so something "neutral" would probably fit better.
Beyond that, it depends on the type of video. E.g. think of the traditional circus clown music (real title "Send in the gladiators" by Julius Fucik). That would probably work better with a lighthearted slapstick video, rather than a humiliation/punishment video.
Does anyone remember a video - I think it was a guy called DaBestNoobEver and a video he did with his other half to the tune of Nelly Furtado's Man Eater?
Seriously, I've never been able to listen to that song without thinking of that video
Probably not good for the vast majority, but I wouldn't mind hearing some of the heavier stuff I actually listen to...I don't know what to classify a lot of it as, but I love most of it from the heaviest demonic screamy coming from the depths of hell stuff to the "emo" sub genres haha.. Maybe it wouldn't fit per se, but for me, it would be an added bonus to think "Ooooh they're into THAT kind of music too???"
But if we're talking something really particular that kind of relates? If someone's using tons of molasses, they should always use the song "Swimming Through Molasses" by Tsunami Bomb haha.
