I have a question to all of you WAM lovers and lovers of WAM-related literature. I have been working on a mature WAM novel since 2009. It is called Three girlfriends in Frankfurt and is constructed as a wet and messy coming-of-age novel of three wealthy fashion models living together in a stylish shared flat in the German city of Frankfurt.
Part 1, containing three chapters that can be read independently or as an integral work was finished late in 2012 (123 pages in A4 / US Letter format). Each individual chapter could be used as a script for a highly elaborate WAM movie or website video update.
Book 2 is now close to being complete, with three chapters finished by now and two more close to being finalized and ready. The three chapters alone stretch over more than 140 pages and all five over more than 200, with each chapter being based on an entirely innovative way of playing, acting, or celebrating WAM together.
The novel features profoundly developed characters with the experience in WAM activities of the individuals varying from none to life long. The stories are very sensual and yet very destructive, wasteful in the best sense of the word in terms of clothing, perfume, hair, and make-up, and the reader gets in-depth insight in the desires and satisfaction of needs of the individuals.
So, what is the problem now? Well, I wrote everything in German language and I have no clue how to publish the work. I invested hundreds of hours in the book and I am quite proud of what is on the table now. Nevertheless, writing such a novel was never intended as a commercial act, so I am also not willing to sell it to readers (IMHO there seems to be no market for such a work anyways). I do not own a website and I do not want to have my (real) name linked to the novel, as the explicit character of some depictions (i.e. sexual (lesbian) content) may endanger my professional career. On the other hand, I think that people with similar desires and a good imagination would really love to read my work. This feels a bit like a vicious circle.
Hence, I am very much looking forward to a great idea on how to put it up for people interested in WAM to read it. Maybe there is a German Website that would like to offer to publish it? That would be nice.
Congratulations! I agree that it shouldn't be hard to put your work on the web if you only want to publicize it. I don't read German but I'd love to read it if it ever gets translated!
In case you change your mind about selling the story for profit, Amazon might be an option. Selling Kindle-compatible e-books is almost certainly easier than setting up shop with physical boots. But as gness said, there are probably more options in terms of self-publishing than you realize.
Thank you very much indeed for the great ideas posted so far.
I just stumbled across the stories and blogs function of my UMD profile. Do you have some experience in using this function? Would you see it as an option to publicize the novel as a series of blog entries?
I am really sorry for bothering you with all these questions.
Maybe the novel itself makes up for this. I sincerely hope that translation software does a proper job these days and that you guys will get at least get a taste of how my fetish works and what I am dreaming of. I'm afraid a lot of the precision in the images and symbols will get lost in the process, but the underlying concepts and the psychological constructions should survive the translation. It is really a shame that I am working and travelling so much, otherwise I could try to translate it by myself. Don't get me wrong - I do not consider myself the legitimate successor of Vladimir Nabokov . But I would love to step up to the plate and try it.
The Stories/Blog feature here works just fine; I don't know what the character limit is per entry but you could surely put your novel up a chapter at a time if you so chose. (Just number them clearly so we know what order to read them in!)
Sorry for the lengthy period of silence from my side. I was travelling on business. In the mean, I took the decision to finalize the two remaining chapters before making the novel available. Thanks to some flight delays, one of the two was completed yesterday. In case of the other, it is just the denoument that is still missing.
So I think I will have the entire novel ready by the end of the month, as a final quality check needs to be done before I have a good feeling putting it online. As for the way of making it available, I think I will publicize it via bookrix.com. So it will become available as a online publication / ebook.
Thank you for helping me and I promise to share the link!
