I was on YouTube and I just seen this. Advertisement for some laundry detergent called Tru Earth. A guy and a hot woman covered in mud from head to toe. About 4 minutes long. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wBWZOhDRskU
While reading the title, I was at first thinking this was about a magic detergent that was much better for WAM clean-up and I was very excited about that.
Wow, that's brilliant! I wonder if they'd like to come play in the Marsh House mudbanks?
I'd also love to try the detergent, as we get through a lot of traditional powder (which comes in cardboard boxes but even so contains some unplesant stuff), if this stuff works for WAM washing it'll work for anything.
Yeah. That is a really good idea. Lol! That would be great. I've seen your posts, I really love your mud scenes. That mud looks amazing! Yeah I really gotta wonder that too. I go mudding a lot and it's not the easiest thing to get out of clothes. I would imagine food and dessert stuff would be difficult too.

Thanks! And yeah, it's always good, sometimes it's absolutely amazing!

Our current process for washing clothes after either mud or food shoots is:
1. Washing machine on the shower/rinse cycle. For the first two fills, once the machine has taken in the standard amount of water (about 10% full in the drum) through it's own valves, I then top the drum up to half full using the dungeon hose in the soap drawer. This means there's more water for the mess to disolve into so less risk of jamming the pump, esp with mud/silt.
2. Full 40 degree wash cycle with loads of detergent in both main wash and prewash, spin cycle deactivated.
3. Full 40 degree wash with even more detergent, and fabric conditioner, and full 1200rpm spin cycle enabled.
For all the washes the "stain action" and "extra rinse" program add-ons are selected.
Usually that's enough to get everything out. But would be very interesting to see if an eco-detergent would be as effective.
Brilliant screencaps! I'd love to see a "making of", which showed them getting into the mud from clean and their clothes getting drenched in it, but it's fantastic as it is.
You're welcome! Wow it looks amazing. We don't have mud like that here. I know of one place that is really good though. It's a stream that dries up in the summer. I wish we had tidal mud here.
That sounds like a tough process. I can't imagine. I've tried to wash muddy clothes out by hand and that is even difficult. Yeah I would like to know if it works too, looks like an interesting product. Haha thanks. I tried to do the captures the best I could with my phone. Yeah that would be very interesting to see a making of and outtakes of this commercial. That woman is absolutely caked and covered in some kind of sticky clay. She looks beautiful and adorable. I haven't seen an ad this good with mud before. I hope maybe they did commercials too lol. There needs to be more advertising like this
I smiled at the incongruity of waving the "Save the Earth" banner and naming the product after an element that has to be dug up out of that very same Earth.
My wife bought it for us to try since it didn't have plastic we loved it! I think works better than the laundry detergent for smells and stuff. Haven't tried it on outfits for getting messy yet. I guess to be fair we use baking soda and vinegar in the wash as well though
This might be what we call a 'greenwash' (?) Who knows? You decide!
The product details are vague. They studiously avoid talking about what the active ingredients of this detergent are. The only 'environmental' commitment I can see in the ad is the use of cardboard packaging. It's not evident from this ad whether the detergent is any less caustic and polluting than any other on the market.
