What are y'alls thoughts on natural mud vs a pool of mud indoors?

Is an indoor pool better for controlling the substance?
Is there an appeal to wild public nature?

Now that the Babes have found a natural mud pit in the heart of Texas we are so excited to do more shooting. Clearly lingerie mud wrestling is an option. What other ideas should we explore in the wild?

Depends on the scenario. Indoor mud tends to make better for mud wrestling scenarios and sets in my opinion. But I really like outdoor stuff for play, or getting lost scenarios etc.

You will find a very WIDE variety of opinions on this I'm imagining.

Real mud outdoors looks like mud, clay indoors looks like clay. They have very different textures, and they look different on the body. Mud fanciers want natural "muck" and "slime", while clay fanciers just want a certain sensual smoothness. They're quite different. I always seek out mud and total coverage. Clay is a far second for me.

I prefer the outdoor stuff because it's what I know best: It's gritty, it's filthy, it's rough around the edges, and if you spend enough time around it, you even get a kind of 'feel' for the different types and how they behave, which makes relating to the scene easier. As you can see yourself in that shot where you're practically buried in the mud -and that looks fucking delicious on you, btw - there's a primality that you just can't get indoors. Inside, you gently slide and ooze around together in a soft, inflatable pool; Outside, you grunt and struggle in the filth and muck, with no idea how deep things will get.

On the flip side with indoor clay, it's easier to see/do certain things for the camera, better to mix to desired thickness, etc, and most importantly, it's much, much more confortable to get really down & dirty in: much smoother to the touch, less abraisive in all the important places, generally sterile, and washes off/drains a lot easier. No surprises, basically. Oh: and no bugs. Ms.Plonk is NOT a bug fan.

I like outdoor mud, especially deep outdoor clay where the model has room to roll around.

That being said, indoor conditions are so much easier to control. You can get the consistency of the mud that you want. You can control lighting (I'm so tired of backlit models whose faces and tits are impossible to see).

Of course, when you're outdoors, you don't have to mop up the room afterwards.

So many producers have moved indoors for all the obvious reasons but natural mud can't be beaten for the true mud lover....

Yeah, natural outdoor mud adds a lot for me, either when looking at pics/video or going out to play myself. I find the visuals and textures more interesting, and the less controlled setting adds more of a transgressive feel that I enjoy.

Indoor would be my preference... more controlled environment makes for better visuals, particularly if it's mud wrestling!! The world's best sporting contest

Outdoor mud is the best, no question..... However, when the winter sets in it would be great to have an indoor place to wallow

I'm honestly surprised, and saddened to learn, that "both" isn't an option.

Both are good for different reasons. The mud you just had in your latest video was perfect! The wild public nature is fun, for sure. And a lot easier to prepare/clean up, too. Indoors is also fun because of the contrast with the surroundings. A couple things I've noticed, though:

-Outdoor lighting is tricky. If the sun is too bright or at the wrong angle, you can get crazy blown-out highlights that ruin the shot. And it's not as easy to change the position of the camera to avoid it. You're at the mercy of the weather.

-As someone previously mentioned, it's easier to get closer when you're not outside Although, Alana, your last video had some great close-ups, so might not be a problem for your crew!

The Wild public nature really thrills me though last time I went I ran into a gang of shady redneck boys. A little too scary lol.

Both for different reasons.

Outdoor mud doesn't have to be 'gritty' as was mentioned, because texture is based on the type of mud. We have found a shallow lake bottom which has mud the texture of chocolate pudding. The nice thing about outdoor mud, is that there is often fresh water nearby, to clean up in. That same source of water often creates a variety of mud textures, from thin and watery to thick and heavy. But we have winter here, and all mud has a short window to appear in, usually only a month or so. For that reason, indoor mud (preferably clay) is also necessary.

Both have their advantages, but the outdoor mud allows a person to splash and splatter, dive and slide, and with no worries about getting the ceiling dirty, for example.

If i can't brake the glass ceiling, I'll splatter it with mud!

Natural, although I think consistency is way more important. I'd take a thick indoor pit over a watery natural one any day.

One thing that hasn't really been mentioned is that outdoor mud can be changed to suit our choices. We had found a spot with lovely pudding-like mud, but it was very shallow. So we built a 'pool' by using our hands and making a wall, sort of like a bathtub. Then, we filled it with the awesome mud, but now it was deep enough to become much nicer. We also changed the texture so that it wasn't too thick, or too thin. It was basically just right, and several feet deep. A lot of work, but in our opinion it was worth it to have perfect mud, even if just for one evening. Check out the splatter where she falls in backwards in the photo. Just like pudding! But if you ask where it is, it is now probably rock-hard or under a lake.

with safe, smooth outdoor mud simple is best i think. Give the model freedom to do what feels best. No scripting, no directions just let them follow their feelings and emotions.

For sure. There is a lot of digging involved in the natural stuff. I even filmed a bit of the process in Mucking About

Sadly, location fits into this a lot too. For instance, mud like that simply does not exist in nature here.

for sure. There is a lot of digging to make natural mud the right depth and texture.

for watching either is good. for doing/taking part, outdoor is good for clean up but you can control the temprature indoors better, both mud and air/room

MPV has done a little indoor when threatened by severe thunderstorms during a shoot. There's a lot to be said for both but the one thing that hasn't really been discussed is shooting where you have given nature some help outdoors. It's a nice cross between the two that gives you many of the technical benefits of being indoors combined with outdoor spaces. Dave has done it all over the years.
