I wanted to bring this to everyone's attention. Following up on my last post, I still haven't received any refund nor video that I originally commissioned 1 year ago. I was holding off on saying anything but now I know that you cannot trust what they say. They keep asking for extensions because the models are "not available". This to me is very unprofessional when someone keeps giving you the runaround. So, just be careful when doing a commission with Messygirl because there is that chance you might not get the video you pay for or might not get the video at all.

Sounds all too familiar.

Arguably, they are the most celebrated producer on this site but that's because they have shown what they are capable of.

Reliability is another story though.

Seems to be a pretty big pattern.

Given it's been many instances now, and there's been multiple offers supposedly from them or more excuses, is it not time that the "Approved to Offer" was withdrawn?

We have been working with tdk on this custom. Originally he wanted Penelope and we were set to shoot but she left in Oct. So we offered to replace her with Santana, but she was on hiatus because of school until this month to shoot. Zoey was also an option but she has already a long line of customs she is doing and tdk's would have taken even longer to get to with her.

So why not just offer him a refund today.

How about a refund? A refund with no further delay, you know like you delayed over and over with me.

We had Santana ready to shoot his custom this week, but tdk wants his refund instead. So he will get it as soon as he confirms. We are waiting for him to respond. Btw we are still going to shoot it since it's on our schedule and Santana has confirmed. She will be Cruella.

I also have been waiting a few months for my custom but in MG's defense, I am very specific about what models I want and I want 3 or 4 in the scene. I know from my experiences getting game together with my handful of friends that that can be a big pain trying to find a day and time that works for everyone.

In the end, I will say that I have always gotten the video and been very pleased with the results. And I will also say that MG always responds in a timely manner too and this has decidedly not been the case with some other folks over the years.

The proof of all this is that the fact that I have returned for many customs over the years and many GREAT videos have been made. Patience has been a virtue indeed.

If you're offering custom videos, transparency, an agreement and staying in touch are paramount. If someone orders a custom where it's going to be a challenge to get the specific models they want, my agreement will state "can take up to three months."

Beyond that, that's not the OP's issue. His issue it that it's been over a year with no video or no refund. As someone who's done custom videos since 2010, there's simply no excuse for that. Zero. If a few months goes by and it still can't be completed due to a lack of models, then you contact them and either offer a refund right then and there or get an agreement that it might take many more months.

But to have to come into a public forum and call out a producer after a year is total insanity.

UMD enabling MessyGirl for years is fun this thread has popped up dozens of times yet MG gets to do whatever they want with impunity. Thats why when stuff KelseyRose happens on this forum, it is karma.

A model someone hired to me to shoot misread her call sheet and never showed up to the studio. I issued the refund to the customer before I finished cleaning up the studio for the day. How some people/businesses feel comfortable holding on to customer money they didn't earn is beyond me...

Yeah I have that same issue, getting 3-4 people all together on the same day can be hard. Done some films with friends so I try not to have too many people in a scene if I can.

This is MM's board and he's free to run it how he wants. I run a forum in another fetish genre and anyone with MessyGirl's history would have been banned a long time ago.

It bears repeating on every single thread this forum has related to getting burned on a custom, MG or otherwise: If you want a custom with logistics/deadlines/payment terms, etc. get them in writing, get them signed. Any professional worth their salt will accept this, and if they don't, there are plenty of producers here that will... or try your luck with a third-party site like Manyvids. Just because someone here is making content you like does not mean they have (or even need) the ability to proactively manage their business here like the types outside of this community, so you may need to set terms you are comfortable with first.

Admittedly, I'm on Month 5 of MG sitting on my custom, cash in hand, but I'm not going to hem and haw over this because I didn't practice what I'm currently preaching.

And what's his reason for not giving you a custom within 5 months? "Model issues?"

Does it matter? I didn't tell MG "I need this shot and sent to me by March 31st or I want my money back." I told him what I wanted, with no firmly-agreed timing. Not my first rodeo with them and I was willing to take the risk, reputation and all, to get exactly what I wanted.

I'm not excusing MGs, er, excuses, but I'm willing to guess most of the people annoyed with MG didn't sign a contract and sent money to them as "friends/family". They just assumed because MG makes great videos that MG can meet a gold standard from a business side.

Sounds like we are in a similar situation , not my first custom w them, first one took 3 weeks, this one, not so much... either way they made a fantastic video out of the first one which I had no idea what I was doing and I'm excited to see what I get out of this order. Do I wish it was over faster? Yeah of course, I don't think either of us wanted this to keep going on for as long as it has, but they have been more than accommodating throughout the admittedly very long wait which *fingers crossed* should be done this month.

Ohh dear this again. MG has been around for ever, as I have, really an elder of this Fetish and the UMD. He deserves respect for all the time he has stuck it out and produced content that UMD users like. He should be an example to us all as an elder, while I will not talk about my personal experiences in business with MG, I have shot with some MG models, its not my place to name them, but you know their names. They are no longer working with him (you know Messy Girl is a guy right?) because of similar issues, he is not a good example for other producers.

I think this community deserves better, we save our pennies, and spend our hard earned money on a product, that is not delivered as expected. I say do as I do, if you are not capable of delivering a custom as ordered, don't offer customs!!! I don't!

Let me take a wild guess, he didn't pay them either. That would be shocking.

I'm certainly the last one who wants to take up the cudgels for "messygirl", but as a producer who offers customs, you're always the one who takes up the cudgel. In the end, I now only have one video left, which I will produce, because all the other requests are so specific that I have lost patience, because it seems that you can hardly please anyone. I'm at the point: write to models, find a model who can do all the stuff, buy the outfits, the substances, organize a space, buy a camera, etc. Don't react annoyed to rejections. And if everything worked out, you clean up afterwards, sit down with Adobe to cut and then you get your dream video dirt cheap and very quickly.

Guys get contracts with your customs. In fact, I would say to be cautious of a producer that does not already have a contract template ready to be filled out before you submit payment.

Too many times I have read this occurrence on here without saying anything and I am gonna be real here: it's inexcusable.

I had one custom from a user on here. Our model was on the train down from NH when I arrived at the studio to set up for our shoot only to find out that the power was out in the entire building. That means no power for heat, no power for hot water, no power for lighting. Nothing. Electric company and building management gave no eta so it was a reschedule. Client was thankfully amazing throughout the experience and paid the model a kill fee for the lost day as it wasn't her fault either.

After a week of no change in the building power status and no eta in sight, gave a full refund to the client. Why? Because it was the right thing to do in this instance.

Model delays happen. Cancelations happen. People get sick. Things happen in production that are outside our control but none of these are the fault of the customer and in the event you are unable to fulfill your obligations, you need to issue a refund. No excuses. No exceptions. If you cannot accept the responsibility of being a producer then maybe production is not the correct path for you. If you are incapable of fulfilling your obligations to a client who has paid for a service, then maybe customs are not something you should be offering. Hard stop.

I have never had this issue. It is more difficult to plan, yes. It adds a layer of complexity, yes but nothing that isn't easily solved with good communication. I have had 6 women on set and the only complication was 2 misread the Google calendar invite and showed up an hour early. Easily mitigated.

Assuming no one gets sick and everyone stays healthy between planning and execution, you should be gtg if everyone is using the right tools

Same thing with me I waited 5 months for my custom for a booby trap video. My emails constantly said "We'll shoot next weekend" and it happened over and over again. I was annoyed because not only did I get the same excuse but there was no detail as to what exactly the delay was about. They could have said the actress is busy with ... or it will take some time, but every week I got the same excuse. Look I love their work but take some responsibility and give detail to your clients. Not to mention when they said they would refund me, they postponed that several times too... I did get my refund in the end however so at least some silver lining.

it's almost as if the quality and consistency of the content and the frustrations with customs are two completely separate issues.

FULL STOP: Messygirl is disingenuous! I experienced it first hand. I put out a thread to warn people. I got private messages thereafter saying they went through the same thing etc etc etc

They chatted with me on the first day regarding every question I had. Forked over the money and then they were never so quick to respond and when they did the excuses changed from week to week.

I had to become the "asshole" to get them to move. When the video came specific details were ignored. Requested whipped cream became shaving cream. Requested white slacks were black slacks.

Promises of refunds were delayed with "waiting on a deposit."

I'm not lying because I got it all in writing and direct messages here on the UMD and in private emails.

Again for the people in the back: Messygirl is disingenuous.

UMD needs to start coming down on policy with how Messygirl needs to honor their commitment to clients, paying clients.

Revoke the seal of approval as a custom producer. Too often it's the same pattern from different sources. What more needs to happen to say otherwise?

For real! Like, technically, that money isn't mine until I deliver the product and I get the thumbs up from the client. I literally don't touch it except to purchase specific attire the client requested. How or why an entire year can pass by without a refund or delivered product is beyond me. I feel guilty for being a week into edits

You said the same thing the last few times..and still no results. Also I'm still waiting for the full refund

I'm expecting that my faith will be rewarded appropriately mid july, and thats all I'm saying.
