Hello, one of the biggest irritant I have is sitting with my love one and the mud or slime is getting colder. Often we would add warm water.. diluting the perfect texture achieved during preparation. The mud or slime pool getting cold also prevents the reuse of the messy pool the following days. I was wondering if anyone had tried heating the pool from bellow with a bed sheet heater, or exterior heated rubber mats? I understand I would have to keep the room temperature pretty warm and maybe add insulation foam panels on top of the pool ..
Hopping to setup a mud pool that would stay in place for couple months..
Hi, I use a roll of underfloor heating pad in my mud pool. Put it underneath and ensure it's out of the way of any moisture. I leave it 12-424 hrs before use and it gets increadibly warm. Just isolate just before use to be safe.

Did you bypass the thermostat and made a 120v plug? By isolating it before use you mean unplug the power from it?
Thanks
Yes that's it just get enough for the size of your pool. I kept the thermostat in so it has a level of control. Yes and then just put a mains plug on it.I always isolate just before use...Just in case. It's worth putting a blanket over the roll as well to give it a little protection.

Good concern. But I would think Adding the blanket between the pool and the heating pad would prevent that? Also if the pool is filled with Mud it should prevent it from getting too hot a bit like this : https://youtu.be/I9gKzea3Cno
Mudman: how thick is the mud that you are heating? Any pictures of your setup you can share?
Cheers

I do one layer of fleece blanket and a foil/mylar sheet to help stop the heat going into the floor
Then electric blanket
another fleece blanket or towel over that for padding
Then a layer of thick polythene
Then the pool
Never had any melting related problems - no problems at all in fact. I do have it on an automatic breaker plug but it's never triggered it. They are machine washable so pretty tough things, just avoid getting any moisture near the connection
Edit to add - I also have a waterbed heater and that's pretty good too, same system.

Thanks so much Candy
That multiple layer seems like a great system. Is it strong enough to heat 6in of clay? I love the water bed heater idea, my question would be since the pads are much smaller than my pool 5x6 and there would be no circulation of the clay, would the heat radiate through clay?
Few more technical aspects of the wam room. I was thinking of putting a rubber mat all over that room since its on very cold ceramic, wonder if that is an issue with the blanked or the water bed heater? I would think it's safe right? Also that room has a drain and hose and would be used to shower most of the mud. I would add another thick polythene between the rubber floor that would come on the side to protect that area from the water from rincing our bum. So I would have something like ceramic, rubber floor, polythene, mylar, heating blanket or waterbed heater, fleece blanket, another polythene, then the pool and 6in of clay. You think I'm good with that setup?
I think I might add 2in insulation foam panels on top of the pool after use, should help trap the heat and spread it to the areas that dont have the heating.
