I've got a certain intrigue with the Essex claypits, and whilst it's a long journey for me I'd not rule it out. But what's holding me back is that this location seems so fast-changing, it feels like it's entirely possible to make the journey and find all known options are no longer viable. Plus I'm a solitary type, I like having a companion especially at an unfamiliar location, but any expectation of personal contact could put me off.

I'm visiting Essex next month and would be up for that. Where in Essex is your claypit?
