But arguably that is easier to a degree.

So if you see someone who is on OF doing solo W&M you know they are up for it.
Or if you see someone you think would work who is on OF then there may be scope to approach them; especially if they offer customs*

(*though have to make it clear that the terms of these customs is you get to sell them as well as whatever terms they have)

there are a lot of producers where there stuff is commissioned customs like that.

Obviously there is a kinda trade-off in that, yep, a lot of models don't *need* producers any more but then for others if someone offers a fixed cash sum and it can also help boost their profile then it can bring benefits

But, while it is also true that people sometimes do get tired of seeing the same people (in the same scenarios) some also have fans (see any of the "whatever happened to..." threads) and while there is a disposable aspect to the adult industry, throwing ladies at the wall to see what sticks can be a bit... ugh... and expensive.

Whilst it might be tempting to think it is the audience/paying customers to blame for this but in reality the link between them is that the producer tried to please everyone and wound up pleasing nobody.

Without variety people become bored. What variety means for people sexually varies considerably from person to person. Some people are only interested in one specific scene/sexual practice and thus their way of seeking variety is to change the person they do that one thing with (hence why casual sex/Tinder is a thing so people that just want the most socially approved/vanilla sex can do it over and over again with different people) whilst at the other end of the sexual variety spectrum you have those who would rather have a single sexual partner but would like to explore a wide variety of sexual practices for context I'd say I'm very much at this end of the spectrum (I've never been interested in casual sex but love to explore everything from tantra right through to erotic humiliation with the right partner). And I say "sexual variety spectrum" as people don't neatly divide into categories more fall at different points between between those extremes.

I would confidently wager similar patterns emerge within porn/fetish viewership. As such the people complaining about seeing too much about one model and those complaining about no longer seeing a particular model ARE NOT THE SAME PEOPLE.

Similarly when producers receive feedback from people saying they want to see more scenes similar to ones they've produced and other feedback saying how fantastic a particular model was and they should shoot more with them those producers shouldn't be thinking they can "kill 2 birds with one stone" by doing another similar scene with the same model to try appeal to both crowds but that they are starting to kill the particular horse they are about to flog to death as neither crowd get what they were hoping for. One wanted more of the same scene with various different models whilst the other wanted the same model in various other scenes.

Hence the conclusion that a producer that tries to please everyone winds up pleasing no one.

Now granted this issue is more of an issue for a producer that has a website/USP that is focused around a particular type of scene for which they have built up a following of people for that kind of scene and they come across a model they think will be a big hit ie. The "natural" that either really seems to get WAM perhaps by finding their own personal liking for it or by having better acting skills to nail the reactions that give that impression then rather than thinking about getting as many videos with them on their site that does a limited type of scene as that is the USP they should perhaps be thinking of recommending shooting a variety of different types of WAM content with that model to create either a dedicated WAM subscription channel around that model (say releasing one wetlook, one mud, one gunge and one pie and/or food video a month cycling through those categories weekly) with an occasional video featuring them back on your main website with its scene niche say once every 4-6 months. Alternatively if the model has interests in a few kink/fetish areas they could instead do (one WAM video, one fetish 2 video, one fetish 3 video and one fetish 4 video) each month to try build a following in multiple kink communities and provided the monthly subscription wasn't any more than the price of a fetish clip anyway it could likely be worth it for people that really like their WAM reactions to get a new WAM clip from them each month.

But to finish off on this particular point and to balance out the earlier example someone gave earlier about two producers releasing content featuring Ivy Rain the content I've seen (mainly from MessyWorld subscription) with her in she fits the bill as one of those "naturals" that will draw in a large following that love her reactions in videos. There's a reason why there's a big bundle of clips with her in the likes of Candy Custard's store her clips sell having gained a good following. (I don't know how well big bundles like that sell though, I imagine most of the fans following a particular model usually have already bought a significant number of the clips featured in those bundles by the time a bundle has been put together such that it may not be as great a deal for them to fill out whichever clips they are missing as such I wouldn't necessarily take a lower than expected performance from a bundle deal to be a sign of fans tiring of a particular model). It would be wiser for producers to realise that complaints such as seeing too much of a particular model represent just a subsection of the community whereas another subsection would disagree.

As a customer and a long term fan of yours I love your content especially the mud and thighboots unfortunately due to all of us having life outside of wam it's really a luxury.
I'm very lucky in that I'm part trading in engineering and sub contractor making machinery. I do get a good wage.
There is also the mental aspect, as we love a messy, muddy, watery ladies /guys.(

Porn fans in general can be fairly fickle, but I think especially in splosh it can be difficult in the sense it's sometimes like seeing a comedian who is really funny but that the punchline to every joke is "and then she gets gunged"


I think Ivy is awesome and I had the pleasure of meeting her last year at a social event. Though, sometimes my brain is slow and I didn't know her from WAM.

I think she has the versatility as someone to be around longer because it's not the only thing she does and so if someone doesn't book her for messy stuff she can do something else.

Though, by the same token, doing something else doesn't necessarily mean coming back either.

I've bought everything that interests me.
I had a financial meltdown earlier in the year where I lost tons of money, but I had prepaid for customs before that so I still able to jerk off to new stuff.

Now Im in a better situation and I like sponsoring scenes, so I will probably do that if producers are interested. But I only like certain kinds of things that not everyone likes to produce, so thats the limitation.

I've been following this (and subsequent posts) with interest. In my case, I know a group of women, some of whom I've been shooting with for over a decade, who enjoy getting wet or messy on camera, and most of whom I count as fairly close personal friends. We start a new character at the Hall once in a blue moon and tend to do lots and lots of shoots with the same people, varying the outfits and situations, and adjusting the types of shoots with what any individual is comfortable with - which may change with time. Our sales volumes have slowly but steadily grown over time, suggesting that in general a popular model will remain popular. And one of our people winning us an award at Messtival kind of cemented that.

But this concept of model fatigue has pushed me to finally put together a poll I've been thinking about off and on for the last six months, as to whether it's the person, the clothes, or the situation, that really determines what sells. The results so far are interesting, and surprised me.

I think that is a big factor. I think model fatigue is a thing, but often if you just put the same person in the same kinda set up each time.

One thing I did. I was scared I would regret this.

I was looking at sales figures and had a moment of "do the fetishes and co-performers who sell best for me sell best for me because of them - or - because I have so many clips with them in?"

So. I added some extra tabs to my spreadsheet
One of the tabs contains all of the categories I've put clips into, one has all the performers

Every time I add a clip - it updates the tally on these sheets.
So - my clip yesterday was in the 'Spanking F/M' and 'Corporal BDSM' categories and with Miss Bedlam - so when I add that it increases those 2 fetishes by 1 and clips with her in to 1.

When I sell a clip, I add the sale to the sheet and this also adds in to these tabs.

A formula would then say "I have 17 clips in Spanking F/M which have sold a total of x times, so on average a clip in this category will sell y times"

The same for the performers tab

Anyway, I was relieved.
The fetishes I shoot the most do have good/high sales-per-clip ratio and yep, it appears folk aren't sick of seeing the people I get on with most.

But then. I also think, those who I have better relationships with it shines through in the clips - and I think that's the same for a lot of producers when you can tell the person is happy to be there, rather than going through the motions.

There was a lady I really like who had been commissioned from one of the studios - and - well - I think she did 2 or 3 but, you could tell which she had done first and which was not done first as everything from the pre-WAM outfit/make up to the reactions within had a lot less effort. So as much as I like her and might buy other stuff with her in I might be hesitant with WAM.

C O M P E T I T I O N

A much bigger group of WAM producers/providers doing a larger amount of different WAM.

Mix slowly with WAM videos (knowingly and unknowingly) all over the internet and eventually it's going to catch up with all but POSSIBLY a few WAM producers.

Add in that everything is easier to do (not better, just easier) and voila!

Many ways to skin a cat

It's only difficult if it is approached from a mindset that prioritises the destination rather than the journey.

To use your example of a comedian the likes of Jimmy Carr has built a career on the back of telling offensive jokes. Anyone going to a Jimmy Carr stand up routine knows the vast majority of his jokes are going to wind up with an offensive punchline and yet they find most of his routine hilarious. Not because he is telling the exact same joke with the same punchline over and over but because he has come to understand how that type of humour works he is able to craft many different jokes that work in a similar way. It is the principle of there being more than one way to skin a cat. In this case the cat is an offensive joke and he takes many different ways in which to achieve it.

Similarly in storytelling there's the principle that most stories can be boiled down into a handful of similar plots (the number of basic plots most often being quoted is 7 but that number is debateable) and yet we haven't run out of stories people want to tell or movies people wish to see. Nobody in the middle of Inception was going "this is just a heist plot which I've seen hundreds of times," they were instead interest to see the unique way this mind heist was being done. By focusing on how the journey takes place rather than the outcome even the same movie franchise can repeat the same basic plot a handful of movies later to stick to the heist plot example you can see this with Ant Man's Quantum heist growing bigger and smaller with the Time Heist in Endgame a handful of movies later.


Good artists copy, great artists steal

The issue in particular with why some might find coming up with Splosh scene ideas comes down to the phrase: "good artists copy, great artists steal." Too many producers are attempting to make identical copies of either other scenes that performed well or particular things from TV/film that the vast majority of the scenes are carbon copies of each other with perhaps a slight improvement in video quality (as cameras improve) or slightly better props (ie been able to get a better gunge tank or some other fancy prop).

Great artists on the other hand when they "steal" look to understand why something was successful and like Jimmy Carr with his offensive joke formula, look to find many different ways to apply that formula.

Copying Example - Number Cruncher

So my particular strength is coming up with kinky games and thus I'll use messy gameshows as an example. The Number Cruncher is an example of a messy game on here that has been copied over and over again by many different producers each trying to closely replicate the original from Noel's House Party. I've seen variations involving moving different bits of paper around on the side of a gunge tank to biffing codes into a mobile phone neither look particularly good visually speaking and both undercut any potentially dramatic/exciting build-up. I have had ideas on how to spin this out into a full gameshow with the contestant trying to win more time in the final "Number Cruncher" countdown round with them then being chained to a gunge tank seat secured by a 4-digit combination bike lock to try escape with the cash prize money on their lap before the gunge falls but that is besides this particular point. The point is that there have been so many attempts to copy this particular game verbatim and other particular games like "Strip or Slime" that have been done to death that the simply copying what others have done lacks creativity and gives little variety in scenes. And given how many gameshows one could potentially rip off and give a messy twist to this is certainly not because there aren't possibilities out there.

Stealing example - Among Us

And to give an idea of what I mean with "great artists stealing" ideas in terms of messy gameshows then let's take the computer game Among Us for example. Back when that was a huge hit someone could have taken the idea and organised day of shooting Among Us messy games involving say 6 people. The principle being one person would be selected to be the imposter to secretly sabotage challenges. Every challenge completed would add prize money to a pot that would be shared between those that were still "alive" at the end of the game. Each challenge failed would net the imposter that prize money guaranteed. At the end of each round of challenges the players would have to vote on who they think the Imposter is. The person they vote as the Imposter either goes in a gunge tank (if they weren't the imposter the imposter gets to secretly choose which of the remaining buckets of mess is used to fill up the gunge tank maybe gunge, mud, beans to try get rid of buckets they may not want to face if they get found out but if the Imposter gets voted into the tank all the remaining buckets of mess for that game are dumped on them). If the Imposter survives to right through the final round they get to steal half the money from the challenge prize pot (with the other half rolling over to the next game) but if the Imposter is voted out the "surviving" crewmates get to split what is in the prize pot. You could film a couple of these games and then either sell each "round" involving one set of challenges and one gunging of the person voted out separately or bundle the clips for all the rounds from one game into a bundle to buy them all together. Filming 3-4 of these games on the day would ensure over the course of the day people starring in it would win the equivalent of a day's shooting fees anyway and you can hold back the other Among Us games to scatter in between other scenes. Yes the players would be the same people but you could have different outfits/themes for each game and it is likely that the mess each player will be covered in each game is likely to be different based on who gets voted out when and what the Imposter chooses.


Anyway whilst going off on a little bit of a tangent to explain that I hope it illustrates that there are many potential ideas that can be made into messy scenes which we aren't getting because people seem obsessed with producing the same particular scenes n-number of times.

It isn't hard coming up with these ideas when you think more about the way you get to the actual gunging rather than focus just on the gunging and treating everything running up to it like a lame excuse for a gunging. I have an entire notepad of various games and scene ideas laying around here somewhere. Too often there is a mindset of getting to the money shot of the gunging as soon as possible. Yes many people will skip straight to it but there are also tonnes of people that get off on pleasure denial and teasing that love the slow build up to pleasure or those that like the excitement and mindfuck of the mystery of not being able to guess what is coming next.

But if anything underlines the point about there being a lack in creativity of ideas floating around the recent proliferation of find which of the 100 buttons lets you escape videos that have been posted in various places didn't originate from WAM producers finding another way to do a messy scene but was from YouTubers setting out to just be entertaining. Yes as a WAM producer it is important to get the messy stuff right in a scene this is what Brandon Sanderson would refer to as the payoff and the payoff should be satisfying (side note twist endings are rarely enjoyed, you may think you're being clever but most times the audience finds it unsatisfying hence why Deux Ex Machina is pretty much universally hated, if going for a twist at some point should either be near the start or in the middle) and as such getting a good messy scene means nailing that payoff at the climax but everything before is you setting up that payoff and creating a promise to be fulfilled.

Anyway I should shut up now, I've blabbered too much on this and I'm sort of going off topic here so shall refrain from posting further on this besides I'm assuming anyone who wants to discuss any more insights into other creative approaches to splosh scenes will message anyway making my pontificating on further unsolicited ideas pointless.

I think it's interesting, but not irrelevant, that the thread kinda started around things like the general economic situation
from customers spending power, to the cost of making clips

but has gone a lot into firstly why some people just stop buying clips (although customers are always lost in any business, the habit is to replace them) and also into why a lot of stuff is just a turn off, for some, in general

My fetish store - well - I had excessively good months in June/July and had a few clips going out in August I was unsure how they would be received, but August has still ended up my 3rd best month (albeit quite far behind June and July)

I think that of course not every country is being affected in the same ways.

My WAM consumption has decreased but this is mostly due to a lack of new releases from my favourite producers and or a nose dive in quality of content.

I have definitely become fussier about what i buy. Lockdown saw good models and producers releasing inferior content, admittedly out of necessity and against their better judgement.
Generally we saw a lot of women in baths, gunging themselves with poor lighting, static camera work, lone performer, but significantly less production cost.

Some producers have forgotten that customers expect more.

I'm not really a creator (have zero desire to get messy, just like watching people do it). But in terms of the material that I like and how specific I am, I feel like maxi dresses are way past their peak in popularity-not to say people aren't wearing them, but it's not like, say, ~2014, where there was a solid chance of seeing one whenever you left your house during the summer- and so there's less content featuring people wearing them. A site I used to frequent a ton a decade ago would do a scene with someone wearing one it seemed like every other week but now haven't done one since like 2017. On the other hand, there are some users that I could see doing a scene in one at some point.

With how many videos there are on YouTube, I wouldn't be surprised if there were quite a few of them, but not all of them are gonna explicitly say "lady in a maxi dress gets wet". There's a video of a lady in one getting dumped in a fountain in what I assume is some sort of initiation thing-great view of the wet dress, but the title is in German and I don't know the language but I'm willing to assume that it's not "girl gets dumped in a fountain and gets her dress wet".

That's a great idea and I'm eternally grateful for your offer but I'm hesitant to do so for multiple reasons-

1. I've bought three premade maxi dress scenes this year that would have made teenage me's eyes bulge. Like, full length tank maxi dress, probably a solid 10-15 pictures in each set that were just a full body picture of the dress covered in mess and then another bunch of pics of said dress soaking wet. None of the pictures did anything for me.

2. My girlfriend has a black maxi dress that she's perfectly okay with wearing in the shower for me and I have a picture of said dress soaking wet in the shower from a few nights ago that has like a prime spot in the bank and although I do do it from time to time anyway a small part of me feels bad whenever I wank to a picture that's not her.

3. I feel like I would be so particular about the outfit (Jean jacket sleeves can't be rolled up, dress has to be floor length and there's a certain dress I want although anything striped is fine and a bunch of different poses that I want once everyone is messed up) that I feel like I would be hella hard to
work with.

4. Branching off of that, unless you guys already wear maxis and would like rewear it after washing it off and whatnot I would feel bad about the wasted money. And speaking of money, money. I'm assuming it would cost more than just like $7-$8

I am sure tbat the financial crisis worldwide is impacting the sellings, but just to think about, is there a general decline of the selling video model?
In last years, specially with pandemic, the streaming model, with all you can eat type of selling content, is increasing, from new competitors of Netflix, passing to games and other mideas.
Of course WAM is a particular market inside the particular market that is sex services and mideas, but I think that buying one video model looks each day more disconected from a TikTok / Instagram world.
Not a critic with this model, but just wondering if new generations, those who don't even know what is a VHS is, will follow with this.

an interesting thought as that in the olden days of online porn it was virtually all subscription sites.

the individual clip model kinda grew with trusted one-stop platforms and that there was growing discontent with the subscription model from both producers and purchasers.

Purchasers that they were often asked to pay a monthly fee when they might only want one or two specific clips and that a lot made you jump through hoops to cancel the subscription and/or a lot of people ended up forgetting about their subscriptions

While, for producers, some were well aware that there were folk who would join for the minimum period, and then download all the content - which - unless you removed older content, people got an awful lot for very little by joining late.

Obviously a lot of the subscription model has been coming back, mostly via 'fan sites' - and the same problems have come back.
And more.

The problems of course that buyers are still forgetting about subscriptions and being frequently rebilled - and - yep, there's been people who've seen people join their fan sites on a $3 or 'free trial' membership and rip the whole content and then hit cancel - and - well - potentially also uploading to one of the many pirate sites. Some people traced something like 1000 posts ripped for $3.

So because of this, a lot of people have gone for a more hybrid model where people BOTH pay a monthly subscription AND have to pay to unlock certain posts.
And of course some buyers are happy with this model

...when I can just buy the content I want?

I did actually start an only fans site but before uploading anything I was advised of a very similar situation Ware people just download all the content in one go then just cancel the subscription
On the risk that the odd one would forget subscribed I think I would've well and truly lost out and
obviously I'm not trying to sound greedy but All my scenes cost money to shoot and edit as well as the outfits , only making a few pound and sharing all my content clearly I cannot work for that so in the end decided not to bother with only fans and stick to what I have done for years

there's people who might, at least initially, give a lot for the subscription but then what happens is they find they are not getting that much in terms of upsell and are not making enough in subscriptions to really justify the level they're outputting, especially if they are working a day job and/or understandably wish to avoid being 'always available'

But, pretty much all of the big earners do some form of PPV or Pay-to-interact above the subscription price - and while there is nothing wrong with that - you can also see a little why some subscribers who set a budget might be off-put and some who put out content might be wary on the balance between included and PTV content.

A lot have also benefited via referals.

When a customer says "why would I pay $9.99 for one of your videos when I subscriber to person x who asks for $4.99 and does x, y, z" I see their opinion but they're rarely the type of customer you'd want to chase since if they are only giving person x the minimum $4.99 they are either not the reason the person does well or a contributing reason to why that person will eventually quit the platform or reduce their output

Kind of dragging the thread in a slightly different direction, but as far as the new engine for the van goes, just because you broke a timing belt, that doesn't AUTOMATICALLY mean you need a new engine. It depends on whether or not your specific van model's engine has non-interference pistons or not. If it does not, then yes, you likely bent the valves all to hell and dinged the piston crowns, so it's new (or used running) engine time. BUT if your engine does happen to have the pistons that have the relief cuts in them, then the valves should not have bent. The motor won't run, of course, because it has no compression or timing. But a new timing belt and a new tensioner (don't try to cheapen out, these are a wear item and should be replaced under the circumstances) in theory SHOULD be a matter of aligning the pulley marks on the crankshaft timing gear, then aligning the two camshaft gears (or one gear, if it has a single overhead cam- it depends on what model and engine your van has), and then installing the timing belt over them and then depressing the tensioner enough to slip the belt over it. Then check to see if the marks all stay in alignment by using a socket to rotate the crankshaft over through a few revolutions and see if it stays in alignment. IF your van has a distributor that is ran by the camshafts, then you will also need to make sure that it is also aligned and in time with the firing order (typically having the rotor inside it point to where the spark plug lead on the cap is at the terminal inside it for the number one cylinder when the number one cylinder is at top dead center as the intake valve has closed) and then it *should* fire back up and run. You will still need to set the timing by adjusting the distributor to the correct position to have the timing mark show on the crank in the correct place when watched with a timing light while it is running) but assuming there aren't any other issues, that should get you back up and running a LOT cheaper and easier than an entire engine swap. Try checking Google about your van's engine and "non-interference pistons" and "timing belt install". Hopefully that will help. Your mechanic *may* be trying to upsell you on swapping out the whole engine to make some extra money out of the job. It may need it, but then again, maybe not? Depends on what you find out. Having spun wrenches on my own cars for about 45 years now, one tends to pick up a thing or two. You might well be aware of all this already, granted. But if not, a little knowledge sometimes saves a LOT of money.

DungeonMasterOne had mentioned in an earlier post about their van's engine losing its timing belt and having to come up with a new engine for it, so I was trying to offer a possible solution that might be able to save them some money. Sorry for going off-topic (sort of) but money is tight all over, which brings it back to your original question as to why there is a slowdown in sales and general traffic. With inflation affecting so many people (myself included) there just isn't anywhere near as much extra funds for things that are a luxury, like indulging in a fetish interest, for a lot of people these days. Some of us are more worried about keeping gas in the car, the utilities paid, etc. Probably not the answer you are hoping for, but that is the reality of it. Sorry.

Appreciated the time you took and detailed info, while I was away aware there used to be engines that don't have the piston-to-valve interference issue, as far as I know no UK engines have been built that way for decades. Its done now, £900 for a second hand engine (only done 100k miles, my old one was at 290k and TBH having compression issues (vans in the UK are almost all diesel, you'd need to be literally made of money to run a petrol (gasoline) engined one)), and over £2k to fit in the end, but am mobile again. Plan is to buy a new van but there's a case going through the courts at the moment between HMRC and Coca-Cola on whether a crew-cab van still counts for tax purposes as a van, or will in future count as a company car. Coke have lost twice but given leave to appeal to the Supreme Court, I'm waiting fir the outcome of that case before deciding whether to buy another crew-cab, or just a standard van. Hence getting current one fixed for now. In the UK company cars are taxed into the floor where vans are not.

Still got $120 of content in the trolley, but after the big weekend of shoots with Friday, Miss Abigail, Honeysuckle, and Maude last weekend (£1,500 in costs) plus the house energy bill going up six-fold, be a while yet before I can justify the spend.

As irrelevant as this is to the conversation, I need to get in on the gas price convo. Gas prices are just as expensive here in the US. Under $4 is only in a few places that are not as expensive to live. But it's $6.59 for gas here in Cali, and it's just as expensive in all the larger cities all over the country. And as far as politics goes, the whole world is in a bad political state, and this is why we need to distract ourselves with as many pies to the face as possible to have a few moments of blissful fun and relief from the dread

In response to the more relevant original topic of this conversation, sales fluctuate wildly for me all the time. There are several factors, certain times of the year are lower because of major holidays that are expensive. Months leading up to tax season is always low. At other times the demographic of who's buying has changed and the people spending money aren't into me or what I'm doing. There's also a lot of followers who are married and hide their kink from their spouse and share bank accounts and that can deeply affect sales. At other times I find out that someone is pirating my content and it has completely put my sales down. You should check Reddit and Pornhub for WAM videos and see what comes up, you might find your content there. But right now the whole world is really struggling financially, these are just hard times. Maybe take some polls to see what content people are really interested in or to see what kind of prices people can afford to buy.
