Hummm I see where this is going..... Let me make my position clear. I in no way condone what Epstein was doing, and Ghislaine should have known better not to take the $30 Million. Epstein got off easy and she is taking much more of a fall that I think she should otherwise be taking, that's all I am saying.
I will say that I am a little taken aback by the dislike to wealthy people in the thread. I came form the back streets of Liverpool and worked hard all my long my whole life to get where I am.
Honestly, I don't think wealth has anything to do with it. She was involved in trafficking under age girls for sexual abuse. It's what she did that's the problem, not how rich she was.

Enough said..... Phil
Where's it going Phil?
I honestly don't think anyone is following this "hatred of the rich" link you're trying to make here. I get there are people who genuinely hate rich people, usually people of a socialist background. But that's not what is happening HERE at all.
Ghislaine Maxwell has been involved in the day to day running of the largest known sex trafficking scheme in modern history. She didn't "get caught up" in this. She wasn't a victim. She was the second in command. She never once tried to get out, she never threw Epstein under the bus.
Where "the rich" thing comes in is that those involved were all rich. Prince Andrew, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, these people have used their wealth and power to shape the world to their designs. They have created the products we rely on for communications, created laws, and started wars. Yet, when they are caught they face no real consequences. They control and can silence the media with a word.
But if I were involved for example, I would disappear without a trace and no one would be the wiser, because I'm fucking nobody, and no one CARES.
The only "poor" people involved in this were the victims, and in more ways than one.
You know what, fine, I'll give you this; Ghislaine was TARGETTED. So that people focus on her, and lose focus on the other members, and patrons of this horrible business. She will most likely be dead in the upcoming weeks. The media will report on it just like they did with Epstein, and not pursue the links to anyone else involved.
But make no mistake, she's not taking unnecessary heat in the slightest. She deserves this and more. But it shouldn't stop with her.

Then you should know better.

No, that's not it either. She leveraged the enormous power that comes with wealth to do all of those things against young girls -- some of whom were not nearly so advantaged. That leverage was made worse by having a cotorie of celebrity rich sickos in his (and her) little black book, frightening the girls into silence. Anyone that takes the wealth out of the story is encouraging a misunderstanding of the facts.
My comments have nothing to do with the financial situation of the people involved. It has to do with them grooming underage girls as sex slaves for a bunch of disgusting old men.
I have a serious question with this whole situation. What the blue fuck is wrong with everyone in Florida??!!! The only people that I discuss this case with that try to defend Ghisalaine, or claim that she is getting a raw deal, or that she was innocent and a victim of Epstein's are from Florida. Is there something in the water in that state that makes defending kiddie pimps a thing???? Or do people in Florida think that there is some great good being done by wealthy people because they toss around money hoping people will ignore all their horrible actions. Epstein did not make his money as a hedge fund manager. He made his money through blackmail. All those wealthy people paying him hush money liked the services that Ghisalaine helped provide.
If you defend her actions in any way you are condoning them. People defending her actions should probably take a difficult look at themselves and figure out what is it that is in their closet that would make them defend someone who knowingly and willfully took advantage of young women.
While I think that she's probably become more of a target since Epstein's death, fundamentally, she was responsible for finding underage girls for this offending and in at least one case committed sexual abuse. She's clever and manipulative, she used her charms to bring girls in to be abused and this could not have happened without her.
The age of consent thing is a red herring. Yes, Virginia Roberts Guiffre was above the age of consent at the time; but she was trafficked and pimped. There's also people testifying that they were much younger than the age of consent at the time.

That's what I asked on the first page, and it's still a good question. Does it rain meth there? Horizontal gene transfer from alligators? Did the Bermuda triangle drift west?

Ok, that's a fair point. But I got the impression Phil thought people were hating her just because she was rich, rather than for what she'd done. But yes, you're correct, the very wealthy can often leaverage their riches to get away with things that a poorer person would be hammered for, so that is part of it.
TBH I'm surprised she's not been offed (and it made to look like suicide) by someone yet. Left-wing friends have already been posting "Ghislaine Maxwell didn't kill herself" memes in anticipation of what they expect to happen to ensure her silence.

She's still the daughter of an extremely powerful person who has connections to the intelligence community. If she serves a sentence, and if she doesn't have any leverage, then she's a pretty effective 'fall-guy'. With her fate decided, the justice system seemingly has no way of pursuing the case any further -- even if her wealthy patrons weren't immune from prosecution (which they are), there's no possibility of her ratting them out in exchange for a lighter sentence or other perks.
