In the Birmingham Splunch, it is mentioned that some people often get messy in their hotels after the meetup.
Now whilst I guess that for some lucky people that is getting messy with a friend; do people get messy on their own in hotels?
If so - does anyone have any top tips? Is it perfectly okay to get messy in the hotel bath? What do people take into their hotel rooms to help get messy?
Just wondered if people fancied sharing their experiences
It's perfectly fine to splosh/wam/get messy in a hotel bath. Just leave the place cleaner than when you arrived (that's one of the old Boy Scout camping rules). I'd recommend avoiding anything that won't easily go down the drain (e.g., beans), and secure the shower curtain strongly before starting - they tend to collapse in the middle of a splosh, if you're not careful. I've never had a problem getting messy in a hotel on my travels - but bring along rags, sponges, and other cleaning supplies.
Being thorough in cleanup is a must. We rented a hotel room in New England early this year, where Ms. Plonk was quite unimpressed to find the cake battered ass-print of a prior guest on the backside of the secondary bathroom's door.
I have no idea how long it had been there for, but for whoever that mood-killer was? Thanks a lot.
Another tip, all hotels will have rooms set aside for disabled guests.most of those rooms have low entry baths but they will also have at least one room where the bathroom is a full wet room!.
So when booking the room ask for a room with a bathroom with a full wet room, if they ask why just say you have a problem with blacking out and it's safer for you not to have a shower bath. don't feel quilty about using the room as they are empty most of the time.
Try not to put too many lumps down the plug though!

The only normal people are the ones you don't know
Years ago, when I was on the road for two different companies, I self-wammed almost nightly in my hotel rooms.
As others have said, have plenty of cleaning supplies, and trash bags to haul out the mess. Using decent quality plastic sheeting on the bed or floor, and even on the walls, can allow you to not need to stay confined to the bathtub.
Be aware that everything splatters more and farther than you'd expect. So really protect the walls and floors (and furniture)!
One time at home, I was in a large extra bath that we had downstairs. I was sitting on a tall stool so I could easily see myself in the mirror. I was really getting into it, smacking myself pretty hard with the pies. When I was done, I happened to look up and there was chocolate and cream all over the ceiling! It took forever to get it clean, and some of the chocolate stained the white ceiling tiles. I had to re-paint a few of them!
Hi, It is just as others have said, a case of being prepared. Take plenty of cleaning supplies, take down and store the shower curtain safely in the main room and test things like the shower and toilet first before getting messy - you would be in a very awkward situation if the shower doesn't work when ready to clean up. Plastic sheeting would help, though the bathroom usually has fully waterproof lining for ease of their cleaning anyway. Think as has been said about using mess that will dilute and go down the plug, otherwise prepare with something to scoop into bags to take with you or transfer to the toilet. Above all it is a case of being sensible and treating the hotel bathroom and room as your own and also being thorough to ensure no clues are left.. A couple of lastminute checks prior to lleaving to ensure nothing on inconspicuous places, like taps, door handles, towel rails, ceiling etc etc...and don't forget also to put the shower curtain back. Also remember supplied towels are more often than not white, so ensure you have cleaned off enough before drying off, or take your own. Just be thorough and careful and you should be OK.

Good luck! Have fun!
Oh! And when I've used large plastic sheeting, I just pick it up by the 4 corners or roll it up with all the mess inside, and put the whole thing in a 30 gal. trash bag!

Its always a great way to round of the day.
Another option of keeping things cleanish, is to use uncoloured gunge rather than coloured if texture and feel is more your thing. At least if you do miss a bit in cleaning up its not going to notice.
my hotel sploshing kit fits into a deep wheeled suitcase and comprises, buckets, mess to be used (eg cartons of custard, tins of stuff, bags of dry porridge and gunge powder), both thick and thin plastic sheeting, bin bags, air freshener, squeegee, jug, scoop, long mixing spoon, hand whisk, can opener, masking tape, pins, duct tape, bulldog clips, microfibre cloths, extra towels.
Prepare the area, move furniture out the way if needed, make sure anything you want to keep clean is either protected or out the way, mix your stuff, have your splosh fun, clean up, and either find the hotels big commercial bins and dump your rubbish there or double bag it, make sure each bag isn't too heavy and leave a decent tip for the maid to take it
Any mess like beans & porridge etc can be scooped up and flushed down the loo but do test it works first and has a good strong flush. Anything not too thick or bitty can be washed down the plug (custard, gunge but might need thinning down as you go)
Don't forget to put your do not disturb sign on the door and keep the bathroom door closed if you use hot running water to warm some items and/or need a long shower... steam can sometimes set off the alarms
Be aware if you intend of throwing very splatty pies (custard, cream, angel delight) it might get on the ceiling. You might want to smoosh rather than throw or splat them!
Great to hear that and hope you enjoyed it. Hmmm, can't bear thinking about that. - I guess have a long robe handy and if using shaving foam it could be confused with suds? No real answer to this one from me, it's a worry and ultimately could mean you don't indulge in getting messy.
jaffajape said: So I started my hotel sploshing career very simply - a couple of cartons of custard in the shower - but your tips still came in handy!
I guess my only worry is what happens if there is a fire alarm during a session lol
I think even if you were covered in the most huge amount of gelatinous gloop keeping calm would be key. Mostly likely it would be a false alarm caused by some daft smoker or something or a fault,
anyway It would take a while for everyone to gather and for them to realise you hadn't evacuated. Quickest way to hide everything is just wrap it all up in your plastic and cover it over with a blanket or something. Then jump in the shower and scrub like crazy. Throw on some clothes or a robe, spray around some air freshener and/or body spray and pretend you'd been in a deep sleep!
