Recently my harddrive failed and me being me, I didnt backup my collection that I have bought from this website, amongst others such as Messy Jessie, Messy Angel and WTF downloads etc.
Is there any way I can get these downloads back, as I know they expire after 48 hours and now I have around 40 purchases from this website backdating a few years.
No worries if not, I will go and buy the specific ones I really liked again, just thought id put the question out there.
I've revived a few hard drives before but results are inconsistent unless you have access to a clean room and it would be pretty crazy to allow a wammer in a clean room. PM me with any extra information like how the drive failed and we can go from there. (Definitely pursue all redownloading options before fiddling with the drive.)
Just a reminder to everyone else that YOUR hard drive is also failing. ALL of them. RIGHT NOW.
Drives have a fairly brief lifespan compared to a lot of other electronic devices and their failure rate is VERY erratic. The brand has absolutely nothing to do with the expected life span either. All manufacturers since day one have produced bad batches of drives. I've had a few arrive from the retailer DOA. Some have failed after a few days or weeks. The Mothership tosses out drives after 3 years because in a 24/7 setting, that's when they hit about a 10% failure rate. At home I have a couple that are more than 10 years old but they are pretty much just kept around as mechanical oddities at this point. I wouldn't trust them with a shopping list, let alone anything important.
Start backing up your important data today. Go put on pants, drive to Costco, BestBuy, or pretty much any other non-grocery store these days and grab a USB drive of some kind. Then back up your stuff. Update the backup at least once a week and store the drive somewhere far away from the computer it's backing up.
I feel your pain man. I lost a hard drive a few years back and lost stuff that is gone forever. Though the one thing I would love to get back were all the Wammonkey videos I had bought. Most of the other stuff I had from back in the day I was able to find again, or don't care much because the quality was so low by todays standards.
