Any of you ever have a "freakout" while be wammed?

When I was filming my maid skit I had a bunch of pie go deep into my ear and I felt like I was gonna pass out and I was having feelings of claustrophobia.

I have never felt that before filming any thing wam related in the past.

I think maybe having the pie go in my ear messed with my balance or some thing.

My only really frightening experience was when I was sinking in mud and got stuck. I've been doing it for years and normally I can dig myself out but in this case my boots got stuck deep in the mud and the boots were too tight to pull my feet out of. My producer had to lay down on the mud so he didn't sink and dig me out which was really hard work and I was seriously worried he was going to pass out or have a heart attack. Everyone was ok but i will never wear rubber rain boots in thick mud like that again.

Not me, but my pie-partner. She had a fantasy of being surprise-pied, and so I set it up.

When she turned a corner, I pied her, and she nearly jumped out of her skin. She was shocked (not in a good way), and stunned even though it was more of a "push&smear" than it was a "throw". She freaked out, and we spend the evening cuddled on the couch binge-watching Stargate.

It turned out that the idea of a surprise, in other words a pie in the face without the context of a set-up or anticipation/expectation, wasn't as fun as it was in fantasy.

(We did try the "sometime this evening, you are getting pied!" setup, which was the kind of "surprise" she liked. In other words, she liked the tension & relief of getting pied, and not the shock of a sudden banana cream pie in the kisser)

Yup. I posted a thread about my most recent tidal mud play. When I slid into the shallow water to rinse off, some kind of creature (pretty sure it was a crab) slid into my undies and I freaked out/spasmed so bad I pulled muscles in my neck, shoulder and back!

To explain why you have chunks of pie filling deep in your ear canal!

But seriously, I have lots of ear problems, too, as well as sinus infections and nasal cavity problems. Whenever I'm getting messy, I put small wads of toilet paper or paper towel in my ears & nose. It's not real noticeable, and when I'm done, the whole thing just falls or washes out. Never had a problem.

Yeah, sometimes the reality is nothing like the fantasy! (But a lot of times, it is! )

I like the idea of "Sometime this evening, you are going to get it!" At least there a little bit of a parameter to the surprise. And while it's still somewhat of a surprise, it's not a shock to your whole system!

Exactly, that pretty much. When she "expected" a surprise, she could play into it. When it came out of nowhere, she felt she had no control at all, and it turns out that she needed some control to feel safe. I understand completely. Lesson learned.

I did have one scary episode that I didn't mention in my earlier posts:

I was doing a messy eating scene of some peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. One difference from when I had previously done it was I was using wheat bread instead of white. Wheat bread can be stiff & dry.

It was kind of like the "Fluffy Bunny" type thing, but was actually based on a scene I had seen on "Slime-Time Live" or something similar.

So I'm messily eating the sandwiches as fast as I can, and the chewed but not swallowed bread, peanut butter, & jelly are filling my mouth. All of a sudden, I got to the point where I couldn't breath. It was sticky and jammed in/over my windpipe. Even spitting out what I could didn't open things up.

I just had the feeling that I was going to suffocate. Fortunately, I was able to make myself take really controlled breaths through my nose. Then I basically gave myself the "Heimlich maneuver". I forcefully contracted my ribcage, pushing air up and out of my lungs. Eventually, the sandwich materials came free and I could breath.

But, Wow! That was scary! If I had freaked out, I probably wouldn't have made it!

Was in a very rare bout of self-wamming around 13 years ago, living in barracks with shared bathrooms and my neighbor was supposed to be on leave for three weeks and came back early. Thankfully the door was locked but I was in a right pickle when I said, "just me bro, almost done!" Of course it all worked out, but damn, quite the adrenaline dump.

I once got natrosol in my eye. I could literally feel it gumming up around my eyeball, and made moving my eye feel rather scary . Fortunately, it washed out really easily with eye drops and it didn't do anything even remotely harmful. Turns out that natrosol is really benign, but I didn't know that at the time. Considering I rely on having two eyes for my career, I was really, really worried.

Peanut butter takes weeks to come out of an ear.

I'm curious, what caused the nasal problems? Ive heard of ear infections happening, not not that.

Hi, Wes! The nasal problems are due to allergies, and sinus cavity blockage combined with a lot of sinus drainage. I get sinus infections fairly often, so it's just a safeguard to not add anything in there that might cause problems. Also, I don't want my Doctor checking out a sinus infection and saying, "Well, wait a minute, there a bunch of whipped cream up there! And some graham cracker crumbs, too!"

Dietary perhaps? Do all the allergy testing?

Yeah, I've had two rounds over the years of allergy testing (I'm allergic to everything outside, and most things inside! ), and getting the shots for several years (each time), and it didn't really seem to do much. Thanks for asking!
