It's been awhile since these gals have had some pies smashed in their faces, so this is welcome news. Take a look at the picture but it sure as shit looks like they're playing a game where a girl lays down and another tries to knock stuff over with a ball. Above the laying girl looks to be a pie in some kind of device, one guesses to be dropped on their face.
Many questions, answers should hit next week. You never know with Japan, I do give them credit for being the most creative in the way they utilize pie in the face gags and the victims usually sell the pie hits well - meaning, comedically and not crying, ducking, storming off stage (i.e. South American syndrome).
On one hand, a girl laying on her back and having a pie dropped from above sounds like a perfect delivery, but my concern is that the pie doesn't fall right, misses their face or malfunctions somehow but I've seen Japan pull off some intricate pie-deliver stuff, exploding cakes, things that you wouldn't expect to work that do work, so I remain optimistically hopefully that this one pans out well for us.
Could not agree more with Rich...some well-delivered pies would have made that scene an instant classic!!!
As I mentioned in a previous post, I recently was in Japan for about 10 days and saw many many of the wacky game shows with dozens of games and skits lending themselves to pies...but alas I saw none.
This pie game has potential but I dont see nhow it could approach the previous scenes with (for lack of a better description) that "altar" where the girls would approach one at a time and get pied strongly...or last year's three scenes in which random girls were selected to answer difficult questions to avoid two strong pies. Only a couple of the girls escaped clean, and they wore adorable micro-mini dresses. They also sold the hits with horrified and humiliated reactions. Those scenes were all great.
Now, given the video maybe another pie game will take place with the girls clad in those outfits...one can hope!
Man, J-Pop is SO annoying...but the girls are super kawaii...so, it's a trade-off...this scene reminds me of an AKB48 video (not quite as well shot or staged)...at least with AKB48* there was a whole game show with the members getting pied, several multiple times, just not in their 'stage' clothes, but in gym outfits.
* AKB48 is the name of a form of Synth Cannabis...not sure if that was/is intentional, given that the girl group seems to be targeted at youth, even though one of their biggest hits is "I want you" and is, um, heavily fetish-oriented, to say the least...no pies, but otherwise, total eye-candy!
