I do love seeing black models sploshing as a black person into WAM but the Ebony label always felt really exoticizing in a really uncomfortable way. It's a perspective that's very white coded, rather than coming from a perspective of already built in diversity.

Really awkward place to be.
When you want something specific how do you even put it into words without offending a person. Cant just ask for a general term especially if you want something specific. You could say African American model, only works if you are from the USA.
Ebony has been the term used on HERE for years. That's really why I continue to use it when adding pictures of black women pied and slimed. No other rhyme or reason behind it.
Yes, yes - and very yes, from the mouth of a WAM fan and POC.

I can imagine! It's decidedly a frustrating topic, and probably one worthy of sounder discussion - but to provide an inverse perspective from a similar lens I'm of the mind that literal porn is the one place in society where we *shouldn't* fuss about being thoroughly PC.
our new girl naomi is a very proud ebony woman. she is mixed (mom white, dad black) but she proudly declares herself a black woman and has loved the few shoots she has done so far and it seems like people have liked her so far! i cant wait to really fuck her up good!! mwhahahaa! she is my first ebony model ( i am using that term because you have used it in the thread. i have no idea what i would call it....shes just a model.... she is just naomi! ) but we have also found that we enjoy her using her real hair, and so does she, when we shoot vids! she has about shoulder length hair and she preferred it to when she had a weave in.
we did too! she liked the feel of the mess and wet on her real hair! i was concerned bc i know that black women do their hair differently and take care of it differently and fuuuuck i have a hard enough time with MY hair....but her real hair has messed and wetted beautifully so I have asked her to keep her real hair going strong when she shoots. i think its sexier anyway, the way she wears it .

That describes roughly 95% of the females in anyone's WAM catalog

Considering Ebony Magazine has been around for decades I have no qualms using the term.

Awesome! What else do you love?
I Love Brianna!! Do you have anymore of Brianna? If so, please post...........and to answer your original question, no I don't!! Love your work though!

You have a head of gold, Jayce! Maybe the variety of stuff that's been in your hair over the years have all helped to moisturize and condition your hair! At least you haven't had a situation like Shelby did TEN YEARS ago with my colleague who, at the time, was experimenting with different "substances" and got slime in her hair. Long story short, she almost had to cut her hair off the next morning to get the tangles out. Fortunately, she didn't have to do that, but his slime recipe was something I'd never use again. Real flour = pure agony for hair. You've endured far more mess than she has
As a black man under the make-up, I feel Ebony Model sounds a little bit off to me. Ebony works for a magazine name about black people (clever), but as a way of identifying a black, or a female African American Model, seem kinda wrong. No big deal, but what do ya think? You would almost never refer to a white model as an Ivory Model, right? In fact - as far as I know - no one ever puts any race labels on white models at all. Only Black, Latina, Indian, & Asian models. So why call out black models at all? The pix alone make it obvious. I dream of a day when we don't need such labels in the WAM Community. And Mr. "I don't like Ebony Models". Try it Mr_Pies, you'll like it.
Ebony & Ivory...live together in perfect harmony.
Thank you for articulating that so well. That's exactly how I feel about it, despite the fact that it's apparently been used here for a long time (surely we've learned in many a situation that something being done for a long time is no valid justification in & of itself), and the presence of a magazine of the same name (indeed context is everything).
I'd like to think that we will be open to adjusting usage of terms that result in 'othering' members of our community, and not simply reject it as the done thing 'round here.
Is the colour of any models skin an issue? If they or any model are happy to do this then fair play to them. Not sure I get the issue of race. Apologies to those I may offend. But people are people. Some you find attractive some you don't. Skin colour should have nothing to do with it.

I agree race/skin color has nothing to do with it. I just think the lack of black women getting messy is a shame. I'd love to see more of it. Of the black women I've worked with, Tamara was my favorite and I loved every scene she created. Tekila was probably a close 2nd! Both of these women are stunningly beautiful, curvy, sexy, amazing reactions, and sweethearts. Loved working with them! While some may not find a model like Tamara attractive, others may. I'd love to film more black and Asian women going forward.
