Here's another photoset of the Laura of the late, lamented pie producer Pie Fun Productions. (By late and lamented, I don't mean dead, rather just that he stopped making his pie videos and shut down his store almost a decade ago.) He certainly used some great-looking honest-to-God pies that don't appear to be buttercream (I could be wrong though). I particularly love the look of the second cherry cream pie he throws in Laura's lovely face (see it near the top of my third post in this thread).
Glad that a good number of you seem to enjoy seeing Laura plastered with pies as much as I do. (Based on heart-clicks and PMs much more than public replies.)
I'd really love this know what kind of pies those are. Definitely the edible variety, but I don't think buttercream. Can anybody tell? They're not incredibly consistent in sticking to the face, but the best of them are amazing.
. I always love the gag where the victim is holding a pie ready to throw but gets pied so much and distracted that they end up having their own pie taken only to be pied with it.

Are they perhaps just store bought pies? Not the frozen ones, but fresh-only-chilled pies. They are probably more expensive, but that would certainly fit with the whole "inexperienced producer who suddenly disappeared" narrative.
Actually, in doing a search on this producer, I just uncovered an old classified ad he posted on ModelMayhem almost 10 years ago. In it he says makes most of the pies himself, but occasionally supplements his arsenal with bakery pies. Here's the ad in full:
We will be filming speciality video shoots, involving old-fashioned comedy skits and pies-in-the-face. At the moment, we are looking for female models to take part. The shoots are designed to be a lot of fun, and we are looking for outgoing models with a good sense of humor. No experience is needed. You simply read off a script and take a few pies-in-the-face. We typically do 2 or 3 skits per shoot. The skits are simple setups. If you have a taste for the burlesque or old-fashioned stage comedy, we invite you to sing a bad song, tell a bad joke, or play the mean girl and get your 'just desserts'. The pies would vary: some would be chocolate cream, some vanilla-custard, some banana cream - it depends on the skit and your personal preferences. We usually make our own pies, however on special occasions we do purchase a few pies direct from a bakery. All the pies are edible, and actually taste really good! It's just like having a lot of dessert! We have had the pleasure of working with several terrific models in the past. If interested in learning more about us, please email any questions you have
