People skills, a stomach for rejection, and cash in hand can get a lot of strangers to do a lot of things. It does help that he looks to be about the same age as the people he's approaching. But seriously, a pie in the face is incredibly innocuous outside of our circles. Nobody would suspect that taking a pie in public is a thing to be wary about unless the guy offering it acts like it is.

Also, when it comes to any "man on the street" video, always leave room for the possibility that at least half the participants are plants--especially on this guy's sponsored videos. Remember: "She's a stunt granny."
