Given our recent investigations into gunge tank hire and purchase and being messed about by the company that approached us who exactly now has a gunge tank. Be good to see a list. Also be good to know has a proper gunge tank as in a metal and glass one with a proper fitment for the gunge on top. Also where it is. If you have a wooden homemade one etc still please post but be honest about what you have. So for example Mostwam's gunge tank from the early Noel Edmonds show is what I mean by a proper gunge tank. So starting the list 1)Mostwam in Weston Super Mare

They are few and far between for the metal ones. There are probably only around 7 or 8 metal ones that I know of that are hired out. Ours is metal and perspex, we recently refurbed it and it now has fairly thick perspex that is never likely to crack.
I appreciate it must be frustrating for Jessie that she's finding it so hard to achieve what sounds so simple - track down and hire a decent gunge tank - but reading through these posts is making me smile.
Who would have thought that an iconic piece of slapstick equipment, and one that is pretty low-tech, would be so hard to find? You can imagine them on the "Antiques Roadshow" in a hundred years' time: "Gunge tanks first appeared on British TV in the late 20th century, but once fashions changed they instead became part of a niche fetish called WAM. Only ten working ones were ever made, so what you've brought along today is incredibly rare. I must ask, wherever did you find it?"
By a means of comparison, there are apparently around sixty Faberge eggs still in existence, and at a conservative estimate each one's worth at least £10 million.
I just find it really funny, from the numbers quoted on here, that gunge tanks seem to be about four times rarer than even Faberge eggs...

Half of the problem is that for hire companies they don't go out very often so its an expensive and bulky bit of kit to hang on to. Some of the film companies have storage for props but also make up things like Gunge Tanks as one offs for one show. Presumably thats how the ones at Pinewood came in to being.
I've started this thread for a couple of reasons. Partly to establish what is out there and Messyworld are being really helpful via PM and of course Candy may have a future solution for us. The other reason though is I think a lot of the customers who want customs and sessions or even to see $10 films made with Gunge Tanks might understand a little more what a big expense a gunge tank is. They have to be strong structures that take the weight of gunge, and have a structure that lasts. Cleaning takes ages. Space is needed for storage. We've had people thinking they can be gunged with a girl at the price of a fairground ride. Others are very realistic. I'm not knocking those people because how are they supposed to know unless someone explains it all. I am now confident we CAN do gunge tanks sessions at some point in 2018 and at a session plus a bit type price. Let's keep the info coming though guys. It's really helpful. Moomins? JnC? What about you guys?

Can you imagine how glorious a gunge tank with Faberge design interior would look? Though I would feel for the poor dungeon slaves who'd have to clean it after each use.
Thanks yes I saw Dave was selling that one. It's sold isn't it?
No, we had lots of silly offers so were going to wait till the spring and sell it to a hire company with bookings, as we did with the smaller Dunk Tank. It makes it much more viable to sell with bookings to cover the initial cost.
