We tried to do that in the early days, but it's not really practical for the quantities we use, so these days we run over 5kW of heat in the dungeon - 2 x 2kW fan heaters and 1.2kW of halogen floodlamps, and avoid having any unnecessary pauses in custard shoots, so the girls can run smoothly through them and get to the warm water hosedown afterwards.
Sugar based syrups seems to be much less cold than custard, Lady Jasmine really feels the cold, and finds golden syrup and treacle much less chilling to play in.
Likewise, the scene I did with Ariel and Jayce we made sure to crank the heat up. I did actually mix a little bit of hot water into each of the pudding containers as well which took the edge off.
Some people really like the uncomfortable / shock factor of the coldness though.
"Domestically" you're probably not going to be using quite the quantities that are being used in photoshoots. Chocolate custard is great to "play" in - the slippery texture between two bodies is fantastic. But a few litres is all that's needed for reasonable coverage and it's entirely feasible to warm that much up prior to use, either in a saucepan or microwave (don't overheat, and stir afterwards to avoid the risk of scalding on unevenly heated patches). Though the advice to warm the room well is good too - even warm custard starts to feel chilly when you've been covered in it for a while unless the room is nice and warm.
