Ok,this is from the same channel where some user took bits and pieces from paid clips and is putting them online. Yes this is MG,but I've already contacted them about this. Yes my avatar isn't ideal for the situation, but hopefully this user will be dealt with, and I don't mean shivering his timbers and making him walk thee plank.
I don't want to open up another weird tangent on whether what this guy is doing is theft or plagiarism or piracy or whatever. However you define it, it's kind of bullshit, even if it's just brief excerpts of videos and not the full ones. What might make it more bearable would be if the people who do this would at the very fucking least tell you who originally made the video. That way interested parties might actually go out and buy the full version, to see the whole clip in (likely) better quality.
Thanks for the help. I understand how this upsets the producers of WAM. However, I am actually going to purchase the full vid. I think an excerpt actually helped promote a video I otherwise would have not known about. However, I do agree that the person who posts these clips must credit the producers because it is copyrighted and also can help steer people like myself to the respective websites. Glad you commented on my post Rich! I've been a fan for years and have purchased many clips, maybe too many, haha from your site.
Clearly I was in the wrong! Didn't know the MG site had changed so much. I can't remember seeing SC pies either.
Here's what I (usually) do when I spot my clips on YT. (Or more likely, when UMD users spot my clips and alert me.) If it's JUST an excerpt and I can tell the person is a fan, I'll send 'em a note saying they can stay up, but they need to credit my work and mention the website. Most are fine with this.
In fact, one user even re-edits bits of my videos into "music videos" which are pretty great... And much more involved that the free clips I do these days!
If someone uploads a whole scene, tho, it's gotta be removed. And if they don't respond back to me, it's a simple matter to file a copyright violation with YT and get the clip(s) removed.
