Im a big fan of the deep mud content, and I've noticed we've gone many months now with basically nothing new for it. A few boot videos, some rolling around in shallow mud as fully clothed as possible, and some adding fake sound effects to old videos.

Has all the content moved onto private customs?
You also have to consider we lost an ENTIRE year for shooting in many of our cases and mud season for 2021 is just getting under way. I don't things have move on so much as we're all still recovering.
The main difference in recent months is probably that MPV have ended production. The other sinking producer that comes to mind is Jumpoff Joe, but I don't think they've promoted a new release recently. Plus as Potatoman-J says above, in many places the 2020 mud season was lost due to pandemic restrictions. The thing with WAM production, it's expensive, time consuming, and hard work, and almost impossible to tell in advance whether any given scene will actually sell. So each producer is mostly going to shoot what they personally like, as that way even if it doesn't sell the producer is left with something they can enjoy watching. So each producer will tend to have their own style, and tend to have access to facilities or locations that reflect that style. Our mud locations are great for fully clothed wallowing, but wouldn't be any good for nude scenes as they're in public view, for example.

Although a mamoth task would there be anything in filling up large bins with the river mud and taking it back to the Hall for a mud frenzy? I remember Mostwam doing this in the earlier days as apart from the work it keeps costs down..... And you get the outdoors in....Plus an environment for more adult material.

oh wow I didn't realize Dave retired, I guess that would explain a lot of where the content's gone. Well I sure hope some new producers pick up the mantle. And hopefully we havent seen the last of mpvbleck or something similar.

We actually did that a few times to do indoor mud scenes, but last time we did it one of the girls got an ear infection. The mud is fine when being washed by the tide twice a day but less so when not. At some point we might try indoor mud with Fullers Earth but at the moment we've no real need, we managed fifteen outdoor mud scenes last year and have so far done sixteen this year, when we only need 12 a year for the release schedule. And while we do shoot more adult but still clothed messy scenes, with groping, kissing, and fondling, I'm not sure the girls would want to do that in mud, with the risk of it getting into places it shouldn't.

Duncan Edwards has posted about it a few times, check back his threads for the details. Here's the post with the last ever new MPV scene being released, though note he does say there will still be some releases from archive material. https://umd.net/forums/mpv--last-new-muddy-scene--summer-and-sa
As for someone else picking up the mantle, it will depend on someone with the financial resources to set up as a producer, and the drive to shoot quicksand / sinking, and access to suitable facilities, and access to willing models. It's a fairly specialist niche, and of course MPV have set the bar very high. Theirs will be a very hard act to follow.
Yes, new production has diminished for several reasons as others have very kindly done an excellent job of explaining. Nobody produced anything new in 2020 and that is really showing now. MPV coincidentally ceased new production at the end of 2019 so the timing was good or awful depending on how you take it. It's a very small niche within the WAM niche and that's a big hole to fill all by itself. Producers are largely one man operations and some of those are having issues right now as well. MPV will continue selling over 1000 scenes and regularly releasing updates of older work. There's also a great deal of cleanup video remaining to be edited and released at WAMO - Wet and Messy Outdoors - https://wet-and-messy-outdoors.umd.net/
This particular niche within the niche doesn't get addressed a lot here because it wouldn't be polite to make more noise about something than most of the neighbors could stand. Believe me when I say it is the reason MPV was created and will be supported as best possible with what is on hand. Producing high quality work for this genre is one of the most challenging things represented here at UMD. Those who take it seriously and have the resources to pursue it will probably be few.
I also feel your pain about the lack. Always feel free to contact me at any time about anything.
Alas Duncan is right, now with Dave retired sinking video's are going to be few and far between. I know one other guy who has quick sand and mud pits on his property but he is not an active producer.
I will start shooting Mud again next year but mostly sexual in nature and no sinking vids, just not setup for it. There are a few producers who fill pools with Mud and Clay and do shoots still. Messygirl does a great job, Ariel and Jayce shoot Mud video's once in a while, Foxy shoots a great video once in a while. So I am sure there will be more Mud video's just not sinking ones.

Yep, I just went out looking through the woods near my river for some spots just for myself. I spent over an hour cutting through brush to find nothing worthwhile. When I was done, I was covered in sweat, dirt, cuts, and bug bites. A lot of people don't seem to get how much work goes into even just finding the spots sometimes.
Not everyone is blessed enough to have abundant lakes of clay 5-10 minutes away...

And that's just it. This is often a years long process and those that are fortunate to have all the elements may still not have a head for making it work. Take Devil Clown, the guy who shot the original video with Krystal. That was the best most viral sinking video ever. He had a great location and one of the great natural performers of all time but didn't have the organization or discipline to get beyond that. Even with help from MPV. Dave was so devoted he bought a swamp to work in. I'd love it if somebody proved me wrong but I got doubts about seeing anything like that again.
broodmud said: On the subject of locations, Is Studio 588 still a thing? MPV was the biggest one but I know there's been some other producers there in the past.
Their website is still up but hasn't updated since 2019, probably becuse of the pandemic. https://studio588qs.com/
