If you're paying for a download to enjoy, is length an issue? Does it depend on what that length comprises of?
I tend to edit out the boring bits, and maybe repeat the highlights (sometimes in a loop at the end of the video). If it's good, I've always figured that's more desirable than having a really long video. Quality over quantity.
Does length of video matter? What would put you off buying?
I've always tried to keep my videos around 8 to 14 minutes so as to provide enough there for people to enjoy. With the Dunkings and Gungings in the Gunge Tank is quite easy to plan a quiz for a reasonable length of time and still keep it fun. On the flip side, somebody once said the optimum length of a film is around 2 minutes. 30 seconds or so of build up, the first gunning then a minute or so of knocking one out.... Job done !
How long is a piece of string? As long as the content is great, it can't be too long. Although I tend to feel that most vids could actually do with being a lot pacier, I can always edit out the fat myself. I'd rather do that than lose a nice moment that the producer happens to find boring. On the other hand, I have a pet hate of repeated highlights, which feel really superfluous and pad out the running-time without giving any extra content. I have ZERO complaints about your stuff though, and never felt short-changed with the length of the clips. So, between 5 and 20 minutes.
