This comes up every now and then when a producer retires / shuts down / disappears. Basically, 20 years from now, if you want to buy a copy of Mad Max Fury Road or Game Of Thrones, it'll still be available. But niche and specialist stuff like wam fetish videos won't be - the trick is to buy them when they're available, as chances are in the future they'll be gone. If a producer has a store on the UMD and leaves it running, even if they aren't still active, the stuff will remain available as long as the UMD itself stays in business. But if for whatever reason they chose to close it all down, it's gone, probably forever.
Best bet is to find another producer who produces similar stuff, or who's willing to do the same kind of thing as a custom.
I agree that its hard, but they had so many fans, so some fans had to save their promos or purchased their downloads... I have been looking and no one has their style, look, and models.

Trading stuff from their actual downloads is strictly forbidden on the UMD as it undermines existing producers - if people started doing that we'd end up with everyone just trading old stuff and nothing new being made, so we'd all lose - and I'm not just saying that as a producer, I buy stuff by other producers and want their businesses to remain viable too, consider the problems Leon has had with piracy recently.
I do understand that nothing will ever be exactly the same as a favourite producer - no-one else has ever captured Splosh!'s sense of comedy for instance (I blew several hundred $$$ on the fully clothed scenes when it was announced that was closing down for ever). And at risk of blowing our own trumpet, I've never seen anyone else do a "girls in boilersuits" scene quite the way we do at the Hall. And it would definitely help if people would give a decent amount warning (at least a full month, so including a pay-day for most people) of when they are going to close down or remove stuff, instead of only telling people afterwards, or a few days in advance. Though sometimes legal issues may preclude doing that.
Old promos are probably fair game, although technically copyright remains with the owner I don't suppose anyone would mind those being shared again.
If its any help I'm finding the same problem coming at it from the opposite end! I closed down my old site and gave my stuff to Splosh to host which was fine until poor old Bill passed away and Splosh shut down. Now I'm scrabbling around trying to get my own old material back as I gave them the DV tapes for the movies so they could upload them. This time its a little easier as everything goes onto memory card or hard drive so I'll always have my own copies no matter what else happens.
