Is it some WAM lingo that I'm not aware of? Unlimited Messy Directory?

Was curious because the only other UMD I've known of is the disks you put in your PSP.

What do my fellow DMVers refer to Maryland as?

I've always called it Maryland. My girlfriend and her dad insist on calling it UMaryland for some reason.

I know of Duluth solely because they're a D1 hockey powerhouse.

Never heard of the second or fourth colleges on there.

DMV here. I've always called the state university "Maryland", never U-Maryland, that's just weird

umd.edu is def only a few keystrokes away from umd.net

I remember (15-20 years ago) there being some confusion and amusement over that confusion regarding those few keystrokes.

Fun fact: Their network of campus computer labs was known as WAM (Workstations at Maryland)

I always thought it was a typo. They tried to spell MUD and they didn't catch it and it just stuck!

Only kidding. Back when the internet was new I recall the site going by Ultimate Wetlook Directory, but it changed. I don't know why it was changed
