I seem to remember there was a story about a showbiz party where she was thrown in the pool and there are some stills existing somewhere.
Thanks for this
Yes....but she was not thrown in the pool, she got knocked into the pool by accident in 1956. This caused a big fight at that party and Dors tried to have the pictures suppressed and destroyed, to no avail and this photo still came out. Some other press outlets who did not get the photo were upset and claimed it was just a publicity stunt...one mag said ....
"Celebrity gossip, including the claim--first we've heard of it--that Diana Dors' 1956 fall into a swimming pool was actually a publicity stunt. Considering the fact that the subsequent brawl generated terrible press we doubt the veracity of this one, but you never know."
They got it wrong, it was neither a fall or a publicity stunt, she was pushed and a brawl ensued. The only celebs who fell into the pool as publicity stunts, were all wannabee starlets trying to get some attention (it was common at the Cannes Film Festival pool parties). Dors did not need to seek publicity because she was already a well established star by 1956.
The incident was re-enacted in the 1999 tv miniseries "The Blonde Bombshell: The Diana Dors Story" played by Keeley Hawes, and is reenacted here ...
But one historical inaccuracy that the tv miniseries got wrong, was they they depicted this scene happening at a daytime pool party, when the 1956 press photo clearly shows it happened at a night time pool party.
