just thinking about this and for some reason this adds an extra edge to a video for me, I don't think it's the humiliation aspect it's more the models smile, shrug of shoulders and the show goes on. I don't mean contrived setups I mean genuine malfunctions, for example a couple of lotsofmud (hope you don't mind Leon) sets Meg long summer dress in mud and straps break or Michelle stepping on her own skirt and it slips down off backside. You don't see anything explicit but in both examples its oops and oh well...true slapstick?
Yes! We don't usually see bloopers (unless there's a "bloopers/out takes vid made available), but I enjoy seeing them. And you're right, when the ladies smile, or even act a *little* embarrassed, but keep right on going, I love it!
Or sometimes they don't even acknowledge it, and it's up to us to notice it!
You just defined why I always preferred "live" tv show to pre-recorded tv shows, because in the past you used to see bloopers and mistakes and wardrobe malfunctions all the time on tv in the 1970's and 80's, but you rarely see that any more because today all tv shows are edited very tightly and editors get paid to edit out those things, and nothing is "live" any more on tv now (thanks Janet Jackson) and even those shows that say they are live are not live because they on a 7 second delay and people in the producers room are paid to keep their fingers on the delete button in case something happens that they do not want going out over the airwaves.
This is certainly the case with U.S. and UK tv shows, and they are highly edited for political correctness, but kudos to Italian and Brazilian and Japanese TV shows, cos they always like to show those "oops" moments and leave them in so they celebrate those moments. not edit them out.
MInd you, savvy business minded producers like Jerry Springer will exploit those oops moments and not edit them out, but blur them, because they have plans to market an uncensored dvd of those moments at a later date.
But if you are into the sport of hunting for oops moments that the editors forgot to cut out (because they happened so fast they overlooked them) today folks can have fun playing with their personal video editing software and slowing things down, cos there are thousands of examples of oops moments in old films and tv shows and music videos where those moments still can be found today...i.e. download an HD copy of Madonna's old music video "Papa Don't Preach" or a copy of the Jackie Chan/Jennifer Love Hewitt film "The Tuxedo" and play it frame by frame and there are several frames still present where you can clearly see Madonna's and JLH's boobs pop out by accident.
Sometime accidents happen on a set, that turn out to be great moments, e.g. the classic Jane Russell wetlook scene in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" was never supposed to happen, cos only the guys were supposed to go on the pool and not Jane. But when the gymnasts were diving over her the last gymnast makes a mistake and accidentally knocks her into the pool, and Jane just reacts with a smile but this was not supposed to happen. The director was mad and insisted that Jane get dried off so they could re-shoot the scene again as it was supposed to happen. So they dried Jane off and re-shot the scene again with Jane not going in the pool and when the director looked at the rushes footage at the end of the he felt the dry version of the scene was rather dull while the wet version looked more spontaneous and with Jane's reactions to the unplanned dunking, so he decided to keep that version in the film we see today. You can see the error where the gymnast knocks her into the pool here...
