The song came up on a Summer Playlist compiled by Hayley from Paramore.
I had a similar reaction: I'm excited by the images, so is that causing me to judge the music more favorably? I hid the browser and listened to more of the song and it didn't have that "it" factor for me. The video's a nice surprise, but the song has not made its way to my Ipod. But it is pretty decent.

I want to like the WAM and I want to like to like the song....but somehow the WAM trivializes the artist for me.

Completely agree - I'm exactly the same.
Not on my playlist, but quite a good song by comparison to some of the other music that's around at the moment though.
For example, the "Paint me like a French girl" video, I was just watching two girls getting messy with paint. I almost didn't register that there was any music.
