So in the interest of the many lurkers this site has and people interested in getting messy, what lesson have you learned you want to share?

Mine would be to start the shower prior to your messy session in order for the water to warm up. Freezing cold water can be a huge shock to the system after a very enjoyable session. What are your lessons you have learned?

Flour and Water may seem like the best combination in the world...... and it is (cheap, easy to make, great consistency). But you will pay dearly in the time you spend cleaning it out of your hair.

However long you think it'll take that frozen pie you got to thaw out completely, double it.

Haha, learned that one the hard way!

You will get strange looks when buying absurd amounts of cake mix, chocolate syrup and shaving cream at the same time.

...and it's totally okay. Everyone will forget about you within 5 minutes and go on to judging how many boxes of instant ramen the guy behind you is getting. Do you really need that much, random guy?

Keep the curtains/blinds drawn and don't answer the door. make sure the kids are away and any mess properly cleaned up. for example "daaaaad whats that on the floor". Take no chances

Preparation is key! Put all of your wam ingredients within easy reach of your play area. If you're not already in the bathroom, make a path of towels or paper towels so you don't spread the mess beyond what you want. Double up on towels and garbage bags for cleanup. Prepping an organized and well-planned cleanup frees you to "be in the moment" and enjoy your mess to your heart's delight!

Also, if using a melted/heated substance, make sure to wait until it cools all the way through! A tub of melted marshallows might feel cool enough on the surface, but the rest of it can still be dangerously hot!

And lastly, for most wam situations, be prepared for slippery footing. A trip to the emergency room because you slipped and fell can tend to put a damper on things. But on the plus side, whatever you're into, you'll probably smell better than any of the hospital food!

When throwing away things, especially if it's liquid mess, double bag it.

Hello dolphl, cool thread! Mine would have to be, very unfortunately and certainly　(hopefully!) not applicable to all: "don't pour beans on the wife".

Never underestimate the leakage of clothing, even when duct taped shut. Let alone how quickly stuff will fall out of a pair of panties (hello carpet stains). Need to invest in large tarps instead of garbage bags. XD
