I'm currently in the final stages of discussion for a custom scene, and I'm trying to do some math to make sure the person doing the custom has enough supplies.
The gist is that she's going to shave her legs before a date, but due to time constraints has to do it already dressed. As she's getting in the shower already dressed while holding a big bowl of shaving cream (conveniently mixed with water so it's more like a gunge-y substance), she slips and pours the entire mixture over her head, basically gunging herself.
There's going to be at least a couple bowls- 1 for the "incident" and then at least 1 (I'm thinking might have to be more like 2 or 3) more for her to scoop out/ pour over herself because I want to total coverage. The outfit is a maxi dress (about ankle length-ish) with a jean jacket so coverage is obviously going to be more difficult. Height is also going to factor into this as well.
She currently has 6 cans of shaving cream but we're wondering if she'll need more?

You want total coverage with a long dress and a denim jacket? I'd say at least 18 cans, though it is a very long time since I played with shaving foam. Keep meaning to include it in a wetlook shoot, perhaps we'll finally do it this year.
Mind that it's gonna be mixed with water in a bowl to make a more slimy substance as opposed to like spreading it on herself- although I figured that it would still be more than six cans needed. Probably at least 10.
I'm also wondering if I'm getting the expected texture wrong?
In my experience, depending on the size of the cans 6-8 cans per bowl of shaving foam slop would work but it depends on the size of the bowl and the cans you're going to use. these were 4-6 large cans each and mixed with a small amount of water and food coloring.

Thank you!
Couple questions for you on my end-
- were these used for pieing people or for pouring.
- I'm going to ask her how big her bowls are because I'm visualizing like a big popcorn bowl and just realized there might be some miscommunication there.
- I'm thinking we might need like a cup of water or so per bowl.
so, I dumped one over my head it was not as liquid as I would have liked. I used a few small cups of water and mixed with a spoon till I got a consistency I liked, you could use more water to make it more liquid-like. Just make sure you mix it thoroughly as the foam will float on the water if you don't. I would mix the water in slowly till you get the consistency you want.
If it's going to be in a bowl, you could look at shaving sticks rather than cans. The idea (for normal usage) is that you grate off a small amount and then mix it with warm water to create the foam. I believe this is also what circus clowns use.
Personally, I haven't had much luck with this approach: it's a lot of faff to use a cheese grater. However, it might be easier with a food processor.

THIS!
It is SO much easier. I tried this for the first time last fall and I will never use cans of shaving cream again.
