There was a thread recently about wam fiction; well it looks like there's a wam fiction book on Amazon judging by the cover and the contents page! Looks like a romance novel but I think I might buy it anyway...
It also says "Book One of the Messy Love Trilogy", so there should be more on the way. The description, however, kind of makes me want to gag. Really? A rich, mysterious single guy moves to town? Really?

No, not really. That's why it's called "fiction"! **
Check out the blurb about the author:
"Biography
Abbie Walton is a mother of two currently living in Preston, England who realized that it's futile to wallow in self-pity (especially when mud is so much better for your skin!). As a result, she quit the job she hated in the travel industry to focus on writing for a living instead.
"Love - A Messy Business" is her first book in what is believed to be an entirely new literary sub-genre - Slapstick Romance.
The second book in this light-hearted and saucy series, "Love - A Messy Splendoured Thing", is scheduled for release in 2016 with "Love - A Messy Break-up?", the final book in the trilogy, arriving on bookshelves in 2017."

( ** I know, you're just commenting on the trite scenario! )
dougiezerts said: I dunno, "messy" could just refer to emotional, not literal! Looks interesting though, especially because it was written by a woman.
That was my thought, too! I've been fooled my that description before.
But then they talk about "Slapstick Romance" and wallowing in the mud, and "light-hearted and *saucy* series" and I get the feeling that it could be about "real" mess!
It's funny what you come across when googling. Here's a Mills & Boon romance from 1999 where the heroine finds herself losing a messy game show on television
shameless plug here but I wrote a trilogy of them years ago, available on kindle only. sure they're badly written and there's elements of group sex. Long story, but hey they're still better than 50 shades.

Does this mean that you are Abbie Walton and wrote this trilogy? What can you tell us about the plotline?
Well, it was only a matter of time: you can apparently get rich writing dinosaur erotica (although how many purchases are legit and how many ironic I hesitate to guess), and there's a good foundation of short WAM fiction at an amateur level (in terms of payment, not necessarily quality) to build on, so it's not that crazy. I'm working on a novel as well, although it combines WAM erotica with some other genres.
Sadly I'm not Abbie Waldon. Her sales are waaay bigger than mine ad good luck to her. In truth it is easier and to a point easier to mix WAM in with other fetishes as we do in our private lives. most of us have more than one fetish as do many producers as is apparent in many videos.
Most authors are amateur. with the birth of self publishing it is very difficult to make if any money from writing. it is the dream of most but it is pretty much impossible. you might get generally small sales especially with erotica(50 shades was a well marketed exception) but the first stories I read must have been written over 15 years ago when I first discovered the forum. At the time everything here was an awakening so I devoured these. later with a lot more life experience and a bit of WAM under my belt I wrote 3 novels about a couples awakening which passes through WAM and other fetishes. To be fair I had a lot of fun writing them which is what writing should always be.
A few of the erotic stories by Penny Birch have bits of WAM in them, mixed in among the BDSM and sex. There is some quite heavy tar humiliation play in one of the stories too.
Dinosaur erotica sounds bizarre. What's the plot of that? "A handsome young Ankylosaurus had moved to town. His back spikes were enormous."
I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm aware of some Rob Gronkowski erotica. Saw an excerpt on Deadspin last year. It's called "A Gronking to Remember" which might be the greatest thing ever.
In fact the UMD gets a mention (albeit as the MUD - Messy Ultimate Directory) as does Noel's House Party (on the "BCC"), as well as Bill Shipton & Rob Blaine, so I suspect the author has either done a lot of homework or is one of us...
That said a little proof-reading wouldn't go amiss... there were some hideously obvious typos & in one case a "missing word" but anyone with marginally more intelligence than a blueberry scone should be able to spot where it is & work out what the author meant.
Over-all though I was reasonably impressed and would give it 4* / 5* (bonus points for research & effort)...
Johndane - You say you have a trilogy already for sale on Kindle - care to provide us a link... you never know people might buy... I for one am now intrigued.
Basically the trilogy is Once in our lives, our obvious ways and hidden ways. There is a lot of pretty intense sex scenes, but there is Wam in all 3, especially the second and third. I have no idea how well the read, the first is possibly a bit slow but bare with them and at least they're cheap. The intention was the process never to make money.
Rather confusingly the cover of the 3rd installment shows "Richard Greggson" (who also appears to have written a book titled "Hidden Ways") as author & it isn't listed alongside the other 2 on your main "author" page.
I've just bought the trilogy so I'll let you know what I think in due course.
There are 2 books with the same title(not uncommon). The other guy contacted me before hand. as the title is not copyrighted then I had no say in the matter. No big deal.
JohnDane it might be worth investing in some new covers and redoing the blurb to emphasize the wam content? I think we have all completely missed the existence of these books!
SimonTemplar thanks for the review. I still haven't got around to buying it yet but sounds like a reasonably good read...despite the typos!
