Now that I've had my YouTube channel going for a few months, I've had the opportunity to compile some statistics about the general viewing patterns of the WAM audience. I thought that they might be interesting to share.
I've uploaded the full dataset to Google Sheets, which you can access here: YouTube Data Analysis _____________________________________________________________________
Data Quality Comments
The material on my channel is targeted at a female-liking audience, as a result, it does not represent the population as a whole.
The general way in which I promote the clips is through the UMD, so that will skew the data a little more towards the members here.
The data only represents a short time period with a somewhat limited number of views.
Many of the clips are focused on CM (Chega Mais/Conexao Models) clips, so the data will be skewed towards that audience.
Account Start Date: 2/3/16 Days Active (as of 4/22/16): 79
Total Views: 177,982 Time Watched: 150,841 Minutes = 2514 Hours = 105 Days Spent Watching WAM
Average Time Spent Watching a Clip: 51 Seconds Average Views/Day: 2253 Average Time Watched/Day: 1909 Minutes = 32 Hours = 1.3 Days of WAM watched per day _____________________________________________________________________
Top 5 Countries by Views (% of total views)
United States: 34% United Kingdom: 33% Japan: 6% Brazil: 5% Germany: 3%
Top 5 Countries by Views/Million People (VPM)
This is just the total views for the country divided by the number of people in the country in millions. It is an indication of the general concentration of people into WAM in the population.
United Kingdom: 920 VPM United States: 191 VPM Netherlands: 137 VPM Canada: 128 VPM Australia: 108 VPM
So if you were looking to find a random person into WAM, the UK would be your best bet. Otherwise, if the US won't let you in, you'd better go to the Netherlands apparently. _____________________________________________________________________
Viewership by Age Group (% of total views, Time period group was age 12 in parentheses)
The greatest number of people into WAM developed their sexual preferences during the 90s, which would be in line with what you would expect. The decrease in the focus on WAM content in media seems to have taken a toll on the portion of Millenials that are into the fetish.
While there appears to be a dramatic difference (38% vs 20%), which seems to indicate that 90s kids are into WAM at twice the rate of Millenials, keep in mind that there are only about 75% as many Millenials as 90s kids (based on 2015 US census data). As a result, if you compare the % of total views to the % of the population that falls into each age group, Millenials are about 25% less likely to be into WAM than 90s kids.
The portion of female views is relatively constant across age groups.
Based on the 2013 NHIS (National Health Institute Survey) results published by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) in the US, 2.4% of women identify as lesbian or bi, so if you consider that the 6.6% is of ~50% of the population, or about 3.3% of the overall population, it would seem to be in the right ballpark.
Countries with Greatest % of Female Viewers (% of Country Views)
I find it interesting, but then again I love stats (big baseball fan). I also really like your channel, BUT I don't spend a lot of time viewing the vids on your channel. I am a downloader because I collect, so I tend to watch later. In fact I lost about a TB of wam vids a couple of months ago in an external hard drive crash and have been restocking by spending a lot of time on Youtube. The most surprising (and maybe scary) thing about your findings is that you could find out a lot of this stuff (age, sex, etc.). We all have more info out there than we might like to admit. Would be interested to know if there are any "trends" with views-- (people prefer brunettes to blondes, pies to slime balloons, etc.) But that is likely more trouble than it is worth.
I was actually going to follow this up with some information about tastes. I just need to figure out good ways of actually quantifying them and that'll take a little longer since it's softer data.
Actually, the fact that CM is so consistent in its format actually lends itself nicely to determining preferences from view counts.
tiedandmessy said: I always knew the UK was the true hotbed for WAM - this certainly confirms it.
SPLOSH!, the first magazine devote to WAM, originated in the UK. But I wonder, are more guys into it there, or are they simply more open about it than here in the US?
Well you don't really need to be "open about it" to jerk off to videos in private. I am really curious why it's so much more prevalent in the UK though compared to the US, which had a lot of it on TV in the 90s.
Interestingly, according to a 2005 survey, 36% of people in the US use BDSM-themed activities in the bedroom compared with only 20% in the UK. So, it's not necessarily one group being less inclined to participate in what would be considered sexually deviant behavior.
