I brought this up in the other thread, I thought I was the only one who noticed.

Arguments against Regis seem a lot less reasonable when you consider the fact that the beginning of his downfall was the day half the bedicked population of the UMD got catfished by a literal sex doll, but I guess we've all already forgotten that so it basically doesn't matter.

As I understand it, that's right as far as it goes. Regis left in frustration when he called out that poster as fake but (initially) only got trouble in return as most other users were taken in. It was a shame he left as I think just about everyone, MM included, got the joke about Regis and his comedy troll persona.

But things went awry when he came back. The first profile was "Darth Bater". Most people assumed that was Regis in his new guise, although the user themselves kept insisting they didn't know what everyone was talking about. (Make your own mind up!) My take was that if it was Regis, then he'd changed in the short time he'd been away. He posted quite a bit on MM's new "Terms of Service" thread at the end of February, but was angrier and more aggressive than before. (All his posts were removed by the way, so there's no point looking at the thread to see them apart from a few bits quoted in others' comments.)

More recently he's resurfaced as "That Guy", and seemed much more like the old Regis. However, he's now been removed again and MM says it's for good. I was surprised, as the whole point about Regis down the years is that he knew exactly how much he could push without going too far. But he must have crossed a line somewhere because, as JaMC said, MM wouldn't do this lightly and so must have had his reasons.

I've no idea what changed with him but, as Spike said to Buffy after her resurrection, "You came back wrong"...

Wait what? When did this happen?

I can't speak for MM, but what I remember from the Sinamin thing was that Regis was on the offensive day 1 instead of waiting for the reveal. Was he right, yes, but it also sent a bad message to lurkers and insecure people, especially women.

I'm also guilty of this in a thread about a certain actress, and it came up again where another user has said that people have sent them repeated messages calling her a man because of her arms.

So, Russian bot aside, I think the idea is that he was being to personally hostile.

Maybe MM will chime in on it once the holiday has finished and he's ya know back from being with family and stuff like most of us are here in the US this weekend.

Every so often, I get messages from some asshat(s) - usually on Tumblr- asking me if I'm a man because of my shoulders and arms. Cause i'm not skinny nor petite, either, like hello? There are many other body types in the world...Anyway, eff him! I worked hard for these arms and shoulders. All the better to smack him silly with, I say! Apparently, certain men are intimidated by strong women.
