If you take a niche market (people who are into WAM) and make it even more niche (people who are into WAM *and* have a VR headset), you get a tiny population with widly varying sexual preferences. Good luck selling anything to them.
Like most new media technologies, porn will drive their eventual development and refinement, leading to mass adoption by a larger cohort over time.
The question of whether or not there will ever be VR WAM is simple... Only once VR technology has progressed to the point where it's a baseline technology (ala DVD/Blu-Ray) and not an outlier (ala 3D TV).
Given time and refinement, VR could become more than just a gimmick and eventually become common place for Gaming, FIlms/TV, etc.
I suspect this will only become a thing when cgi rendering of completely realistic and believable people is available on domestic computer equipment. Given the tech isn't quite there yet for Hollywood (see Tarkin in Rogue One - almost but not quite) then it's probably still a decade away from erotica. But yes, in the future I can well imagine that it will be possible to specify your ultimate fantasy wam participant, dress them (or not) as you please, and then pie them / lower them into vats of gunge / put them in a gunge tank / have them go swimming / whatever. When we watch wam videos we are only really looking at pixels on a screen so once the tech is there to create 100% compelling and believable cgi characters, what difference if it's a recording of a real scene or a computer generated fantasy?
I suspect however that even when this does become feasible there will always be a market for "real people wam" just because humans are emotional creatures and there will always be an appeal in knowing a human person did the scene for real.
I intend to continue shooting with models for as long as I have models who want to shoot with me.

Google Cardboard costs like, £6
A Samsung Gear VR is also free right now with damn near any Samsung phone. That's how I got mine! lol

I have a customer willing to buy me a VR camera. I'm working on the details with him to figure out which company to go with. I want to make sure we buy from a company with a good reputation and good tech support since I am not that great with new technology. So basically it will be a little while since I will have to do some test clips with it before I put in all the time and money to shoot wam with it.

VR videos are different than CGI. You just film with a VR capable camera and someone with a VR headset can watch it. You can get a VR headset for really cheap these days so it's not much of an investment for customers. I've watched some VR porn on my Vive, it's pretty damn hot

Good to know. I can't wait until this becomes more of a normal thing!

Well, 800 for a Vive and 1k for a VR capable computer isn't exactly cheap....
