Anyone have suggestions on video editing software? I did a search but only post I saw was madmudphil in the store owners forum... Trying to avoid spam and Spyware...
There is one standard answer to this question: Magix Movie Studio, formerly known as Sony Vegas.
Combines ease of use with very good compression if you use two-pass mode. Originally recommended by Soungyuy who runs The Mothership / Vidown. Revolutionsed our production process here. Cheap too, cost less than £50.

Magix is often included in a video/graphics/audio editing software bundle through Humble Bundle - like, maybe two or three times a year the past couple of years. You'd be able to get it along with a few other good bits of software, all for around $30 Canadian.
And if you don't want to wait for a bundle that includes Magix specifically, there's almost always a bundle available with some kind of video editing program as part of it.

Movie Edit Pro or Video Pro X? Their website has two products but doesn't do much to describe the differences between the two

I'm running v16, which still refers to itself as "Vegas Movie Studio".
If you are tied to windows, pinnacle is great for entry level stuff and can even harness gpu decently. I'm a Mac user and so iMovie and final cut are the go to for me. The workflow is so super smooth.

There's a paid version, but the only difference is a few extra effects.
In my opinion, Davinci Resolve is the most user friendly and modern video editing software out there. You won't need the paid version unless you shoot in 10bit color depth (which you probably won't).
