Why do some posters leave the topic heading vague or incomplete?

Could it be to bait forum users into reading a tedious post that they wouldn't otherwise have clicked on?

Why have a topic heading if it isn't going to tell you what the post is about?

Nevertheless, I much prefer a vaguely titled thread which equally disappoints over a very specifically titled thread such as
"Sexy Hilary Clinton in a bikini gets humiliating pie in the face!
See photos and videos right here!"

only to discover ads for the University of Phoenix.

Sorry if I made bad mental image. At least a billion sexy women on the planet,
and the only female name that popped into my mind was Hilary Clinton.

I hate it when people do this in email. Years back I worked in tech support for a large service provider. Customers would email in with subjects like "website down". Was it really beyond their wit to realise that given we had tens of thousands of customers, perhaps putting "website www.seven-layers-of-horse-porn.com down" in the subject line might be more useful to get their problem fixed more quickly? Gah! (/rant)
