The Wife and myself have gotten heavy into B movie, schlocky, so bad it's good horror/horror-comedy movies for the past few months now. And a lot of the over the top, purposely bad, offensive movies we like come from the company Troma.
Does someone there have a WAM kink? Because there's so much blood spray among other things in so many of their movies.
OMG I'll never forget the first time I've seen Toxic Avenger
Troma is just so bad, they cross the threshold into good. Evil Dead certain had a lot too. I think its just a trope in bad horror. Hell the Evil Dead musical had a splat zone in the audiance.
Troma has become a sub-genre unto itself at this point.
Gotta say, now we're now just waiting for your TMTW interpretation of a B-movie Trailer with a modern wam twist.
Original: The Toxic Avenger (1984) -- Tromaville has a monstrous new hero. The Toxic Avenger is born when meek mop boy Melvin is forced into a vat of toxic waste. Now evildoers will have a lot to lose.
Update: The Slimy Avengers (2025) -- Wammerville has a gooey new heroine team. The Slimy Avengers are born when a trio of geeky girls (Lily, Chloe, & The Wife) are forced into a vat of green slime. Now evildoers will have a lot to lose. Coming Soon! (?)
I haven't seen a huge amount of Troma movies, and it's been quite some time, but I did see Toxic Avenger 1-4...I used to think Citizen Toxie was the greatest thing ever when I got in on DVD...at some point that wore off for me and I traded it in at FYE or something for whatever measly amount they offered me so I could get different movies...
Also had Tromeo and Juliet at at one point. I think I traded movies on-line with some guy and ended up with that? Ahh the good old days of the internet before streaming...
I watched Frankenhooker in the past year, that was the last one I saw.
Not sure if they're into WAM, but the movies are just so weird and out there that some of them just might be...
Speaking of Toxic Avenger...did you know they did a Musical in NYC off broadway ages ago? It was alright, but if I'm being honest, it was my second musical and I was comparing it to Evil Dead The Musical (which you just can't beat)...apparently I only see Musicals based off of horror movies. Saw Beetlejuice the Musical too...I also saw The Shark is Broken (which wasn't a musical, but still kind of counts since it was a broadway show).

Didn't sit in the splatter zone, but saw this on its run in NYC with the cast that did the studio version of the album. It was so good. I'd love to go see it again since it still runs, but part of me thinks I'd be let down by not having Ryan Ward as Ash...

The musical I'd like to see, and it will never be made, unfortunately, is A Quiet Place - The Musical.

That'd be fun...would be a really short musical though. Unless they did it in sign language. Does it still count as a musical if it's in sign language?
The Man and The Wife said: Kill Bill volume 1 is my favorite movie of all time
Ditto. I have a hard time picking one...picking 3 is still hard...and I still feel like I'm leaving out sooo much...but I narrowed it down to:
Kill Bill (I consider it one movie since Quentin Tarantino counts it as only 1 in his supposed "10 movies and I'm done" thing) The Exorcist One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
If we've strayed from Troma to simply favorites... 1 Being There - Peter Seller's crowning achievement 2 Pulp Fiction - Jules' speech at the end of the diner scene makes me freaking cry every time 3 Silverado - Not a big western fan, but the end makes me jump of the sofa and scream "yes!"
OMG you guys are talking my language now! I LOVE B Horror movies. Hop on Tubi and check out some of Charles Band's stuff. The Troma movies are great. Poultrygeist was one of the funniest movies I have seen from them. Love me some Uncle Lloyd. If you want some interesting B Horror movies, I have a couple of suggestions. Stuff and Society. With Society the shunting scene will leave you questioning the life choices that lead you to this great moment in movies.

I have been meaning to watch 'Society' for that exact reason and scene.
If you're looking for some bad movies that are good, some favorites of mine are Samurai Cop and Strike Commando. AimMe and I watched both Street Trash movies recently and the original is a classic stinker but the "remake" (wouldn't really call it that tbf) was pretty funny and decent as a low budget b movie. Should also be mentioned Stump Chunkman is in Strike Commando!

We're big Mystery Science Theater 3000 nerds as well. So we've definitely seen the clip you posted, along with Samurai Cop. However, I forgot all about Street Trash, and it's now on our list!
Here's a list of the Troma movies we've watched (so far) and in no particular order:
Toxic Avenger
Toxic Avenger 2
Toxic Avenger 3
Toxic Avenger 4
Class of Nuke 'em High
Class of Nuke 'em High 2
Class of Nuke 'em High 3
Return to Class of Nuke 'em High 1
Return to Class of Nuke 'em High 2
Tromeo and Juliet
Terror Firmer
Blades
Redneck Zombies
Tales From the Crapper
Father's Day
Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead
Cannibal the Musical
Blood Hook
Uncle Sleazo's Toxic and Terrifying TV Hour
After School Lunch Special 2
Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD
#ShakespearShitstorm
Troma's War
Frankenhooker
...and we may have forgotten some
We want recommendations for Troma movies that are in the same tone as the Toxic Avengers, Tales From the Crapper, Terror Firmer, Nuke 'em Highs, etc. Like, the super goofy over the top style of Troma.
Troma movies are great and Troma has their own streaming channel for like $5 a month. So if you're really into their movies you should check it out and they do a 7 day free trial so if you're not feeling it you can cancel before the subscription renews.
There are some epic B-movies on prime. Killer doughnuts, The VelociPastor and more. Tubi is also another great place to fined B-movie gold.
A terrible B-movie with a decent WAM scene at the end is Breeders from back in 1986. Basically an alien comes to Earth and kidnaps attractive women for the purpose of breeding. Shocker right? The movie is pretty slow and a bit boring but at the end of the movie all the girls the alien has collected are in a giant vat of slime with each other rubbing themselves down in the mess. It's a pretty decent scene and the movies only redeeming quality.
A little known B-movie series that is absolutely awesome is Feast 1-3 they are gory as hell and absolutely hilarious. It also has some familiar faces like Henry Rollins and Jenny Wade. I definitely recommend checking it out. I believe all three are on Tubi. Enjoy

We absolutely picked up the Troma streaming service a few weeks ago and have been using the hell out of it. We saw Velocipastor, but not Killer Doughnuts...might have to check it out!
I've seen a number of Troma films from my youth. I actually have a few still on DVD, specifically the toxic avenger, surf Nazis must die, Mother's Day, and Nuke 'em high. They were so outlandish when I was a kid. I thought they were cool, but re-watching them in my 40s, I can't help it be turned off by the terrible over the top acting, and extremely cheap special effects. However, popping a few Gummies, and then watching them is still a good time, but probably for the wrong reasons. Heh. I heard a while back that they were remaking the toxic avenger with Peter Dinklage in the title role. I wonder if that's still happening.

Yea, they made that movie with Dinklage. It premiered at some festival or maybe festivals, hasn't gotten a theatrical release yet though. I think they finally got a distributor for it, and it's supposed to come out sometime this year.
Check out "Blood Diner". Its not a Troma film, but it certainly feels like one. Theres a full coverage batter scene with a funny ending. Its written by Michael Sonye (Surf Nazis Must Die).
Some of the old Hershel Gordon Lewis movies have some real sloppy, over the top gore, and his movies are batshit insane on top of that. "Wizard of Gore" and "The Gore Gore Girls" are two of my favs.
"Terrorvision" and the original "Street Trash" are mandatory viewing if youre into Troma.
"Frankenhooker" is a Frank Henenlotter film, and if you enjoyed that you'll most certainly like his other films "Basket Case", "Brain Damage", and "Bad Biology".
If you want a crash course in low budget horror classics get a Shudder account and watch Joe Bob Brigg's "The Last Drive In" series.
John Waters has a female character that loves sploshing in "A Dirty Shame". His older films are some the funniest and trashiest films of all time. Watch "Desperate Living" and "Polyester". If you've got the stomach for it check out "Pink Flamingos".
