So I didn't actually vote in the poll because its kind of a 3 way tie for me- pie sandwich, the up and over and the self pie
Self pie is tricky too because if it's done well/done right, that might be my pick, but if it isn't, I'd probably rank it 3rd out of the 3, pie sandwich is a home run 99% of the time, and the up and over is, imo, the "go to" way to pie someone, so idk...lol

If a pie sandwich is '99% a homerun for you' then it absolutely sounds like your vote to me!

Yea, basically I guess, and I didn't explain this real well in my comment, but I really like a good self pie (kudos to the wife btw for always nailing her self pies) and like I mentioned the up and over is, imo, the "standard" basically, like if I had to cast a ballot I'd be seriously conflicted on my choice lol but I guess to just be decisive, I'm gonna go with your reasoning and say pie sandwich....lol
The best in my opinion is the "up and over... then back down to rub it in your face some more." It gets some great reactions, because once it goes in the hair, they think it's over, but nope! There's still some cream left in that plate.
