Wow, this takes me back! I think I first saw pics of this on the old alt.fetish newsgroup. (The UMD was years away from existing!)
You wanna talk about how spoiled we are now compared to then? Someone who attended the shoot took pics... which of course took ages to download... and people raved about them, but of course there was no corresponding video. I think it took 3 years (!!) before the VHS (!!!!) got released....
This scene was shot in 1996 in my garden. I remember Lenny was there, so was Dr Zoidberg, Stan Glass and several other guests who shot behind the scenes footage. In those days we held an "open house" for wam fans to come along and assist us with the shoots. But you had to pitch in and help as a crewmember....i.e. we needed people to help shovel up into plastic bags all the dead pies littered around my property plus we needed towel boys to help the girls shower down and scrape off the pies.....which was not easy cos Lenny had a special recipe for his industrial strength pies....i.e. they would not wash off easily like shaving foam does, and we had to use loads of bottles of "Dawn" washing liquid to get them off. Whenever I see news footage about an oil spill and how they use Dawn to clean the birds, I am thinking....yeah...and it does a good job of cleaning up pie models too.
I imagine it was the butter in the butter cream pies...? Add food coloring in with the animal oil (in the butter) and you get some serious 'stainage'....but great pies / pie effect...I discovered your stuff around 1997....the quality and production value of your videos always stood out to me....It definitely influenced my production aesthetic (albeit on a smaller budget)...
Well....the credit belongs to Lenny, who designed the pie recipe along with our local Publix bakery manager George. It was George and Lenny who created the pies and Lenny wrote and directed many of the scenes. All I did was work with the camera crew guys and help shovel up all the dead pies, but basically it was Lenny's show.
Lenny and George designed the pies in a special way so they could withstand the Florida heat and they could be stored in my garage (without refrigeration) and they would not melt in the sun. I only had 2 fridges so I could store about 20 pies in my freezer, so when Lenny would order 2000 pies to be trucked in we had a problem....where to store the dozens of pie boxes for the 3-4 days of shoots without them all melting. So, the butter cream recipe was made because those would stay firm and not melt in the 90 degree heat of my garden or garage,
The downside was that they were so thick they were hard for the girls to wash off, and some of the blonde models got antsy cos their hair turn green or blue and it took several washes to get the dye out of their hair....but "Dawn" came to the rescue and it eventually all washed out.
