I was wondering if any folks who live in Florida or have visited Florida know of any good mud spots? I I am willing to travel around Florida if neccessary. I have always poked and proded whenever I saw good mud but never went all out with it. I also have never really done anything muddy before and I've always been worried about being caught by other people. Does anyone have any tips for first time mudders?
Those deliciously filthy animals ( ) TemptressToxin and her guy are constantly out wallowing in nasty, muddy fuck-pits around Florida. Maybe reach out to them?
There is a bunch of salt marshes along the coast of North Florida all the way up into South Carolina. Technically hundreds of square miles of mud. You gotta go during low tide though. Trying to stay in the state, just go up 95. Past Daytona, from St Augustine up through Jacksonville and up to Fernindina, there is salt narsh mud everywhere along the coast.
Get acquainted with what salt marsh looks like on Google maps. Plan accordingly. I prefer to go to nature preserves because it's nice and secluded. Always be respectful to the habitat of course, don't litter and don't disturb the oyster reefs (that goes double for oyster reefs, disturbing them is not only bad for the environment, it will slice you up and you'll need stitches and antibiotics.) Also salt marsh mud is smelly so be warned.
Also forgot to mention, if you choose the Mayport area, be warned that there is a navy base nearby, the helicopter patrols may mistake you for a stranded kayaker and ruin your gooning session like John Hammond in Jurassic Park
