Back in the early eighties, American music show "Solid Gold" had a great mud wrestling clip played to the tune of Pat Benatar's hit me with your best shot. It featured 2 matches with beautiful Hollywood starlets
I've done some research & it was Series 1 Episode 11...
Does anyone remember seeing it? Has anyone seen it on any of the clip sites?
It's a lost classic
Another one was an NBC show called Games People Play that presented a series of games ranging from funny to bizarre. The show was short lived. Of course, the early 80s meant a segment on female mud wrestling at a nightclub was included. This one was the Sunday edition entitled Sunday Games. Another lost classic
I think the "Games People Play" clip is viewable somewhere on the net. I'm pretty sure I've seen it within the past few years. I'll post a link if I find it again. As for "the infamous " Solid Gold clip I'm pretty sure every WAM Wrestling fan in their 40s and older members that clip but unfortunately that is (as of this writing) lost media. At least once a year that clip gets mentioned but still nothing has turned up and I'm talk from years of trying to track that episode down. Funny thing is i think most of us may be misremembering that clip as being better than it actually was but it's so old who remembers lol. The only thing we remember is "Hit me with your best shot" was playing and I don't think that show ran repeats so we all were watching it at the same time! If I'm right about the repeat episodes thats actually pretty awesome
Haha yes, things seem to get better in our memory with age
Having said that I recorded it at the time so saw it a few times & the wrestlers were hot.
Match 1 was between a girl with straight blonde hair and another girl with wavy brown hair Match 2 was between a girl with wavy blonde hair and another with long brown hair
They were singing along to the lyrics taunting each other. Song only goes for 3-4 minutes, but it is etched in my brain!

Oh wow so it was a pretty lengthy segment!? See I was remembering it as like a short segway into a commercial break. I didn't remember it being a few minutes long. Now I REALLY need to see this again! I only remember it from the time it first aired. It's cool you described it in detail I had no clue of what the girls looked like. I bet one of them were one of the Schrier sisters. They were literally everywhere during that time lol
rosie said: It was the whole song, so 3-4 minutes. I am a fan of the Schrier sisters' work & I don't think it was them but it was 40+ years ago.
I was hoping it would be on wamtec's database but no luck.
I'll keep searching along with that new miss tease 1983 one that came up a few days ago
The only info I could find was the co-host of that episode was Toni Tennille. For the past 45min I've been doing 100 different Google searches. Will definitely let you all know if i find it
Pretty sure the Games People Play mud wrestling segment featured The Chicago Knockers. I remember one of the mud wrestlers was asked whether her mother would approve of seeing her fully covered in mud and she answered: "I've mud wrestled my mother" I think Oui erotic magazine ran a long article on The Chicago Knockers and a mother-daughter match was mentioned, I forget who the women (or their stage characters) were.
