There's a movie promo for a movie floating around where someone takes a pie in the face. It's a graham cracker crust, and if you pay attention, you can see that the crust was put inside the clear top.
I played around with this idea, and used it in a recently filmed episode of Splatter Island, which will release next year.
Has anyone else attempted doing this? Here's how I did it:
Once opened, I set the clear top back in (after removing the label), and carefully flipped it. I lifted the tin, leaving the crust upside down on the clear cover, then placed a second clear cover on, face down. Then I carefully flipped it right side up. To do this, I slid the stack to the edge, and used that to lift it. Once right side up, I pulled off the first cover, leaving it sitting in the second. Then filled as normal.
A few words of caution:
This works best in an uncracked shell. However, you won't know it's cracked until you flip it. Also, when I filled, I was super careful. There's a rim of unsupported crust. Minor pressure is enough to start breaking that. Not the end of the world, but you might get crumbs in the filling.
Does anyone else have a different method?
II think it works pretty well, but it does slow things down, if that's a thing you care about.
