Did anyone ever see or hear of this movie? It was a supposedly really bad, low budget affair from 1992 that never saw a theatrical release in the US. It had a pretty big pie fight scene in which Traci Lords may or may not have been pied. I found a somewhat short clip on YouTube. Has anyone ever seen the entire pie fight sequence? Did Traci, or any other known (or unknown) actresses get pied? I know the film was released to video, and maybe dvd.
This was also the last film appearance of Emil Sitka, a popular and we'll remembered foil of the Three Stooges.
There was actually a MUCH longer cut of the pie scene... It must've gone on for a solid 20 minutes or more. Far more female (and male) hits. Someone traded me a bootleg copy on VHS... But the quality was SO bad that WAMTEC Mark actually got mad when I traded it with him. (Anyone else nostalgic for shitty VHS quality? No??)
Anyway. If this film had been a massive hit, that might've been a bonus feature or some crap. As such, that long cut will probably never surface in remotely decent quality. The actual scene itself is fine, just could've been much better.

I remember seeing this movie as a kid, it was like finding gold on TV.
Any chance of the 20min extended cut of the pie fight being uploaded on YT?
Not sure if you see Traci Lords pied,(she is covered in cream pie at one point, I just didn't see the hit), but def the lovely Amy Yasbeck:lovestruck:. Found the whole film on youtube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrKfQaBAP0o . The catch is, it's dubbed into Hungarian:?: (I think), but I guess we're going for the visuals here right? Haven't had time to watch it all yet, but there is slapstick all through it, not just the big piefight at the end. Maybe it's time for a thread on the sexploitation comedy movies of the mid 70's through to the early 90's? I remember one called "Waitress!" from 1981 that had some slapstick I think, "Kentucky fried Movie" from 1977, National Lampoon made some I think and the Brits with their "Carry on" movies, and one called "The Ups And Downs Of A Handyman" from 1976. A bit of spanking and mess. I'm sure there are many more with hidden slapstick gems.
Climactic pie fight notwithstanding, it's a horrible movie. All the more odd is what went on behind the scenes, according to imdb, it was written by Sam Raimi (!), Ivan Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Scott Spiegel, who were all so embarrassed by the final product that they used pseudonyms for credits.
Yasbeck is shown getting hit, although it's not a very close shot. Lords is not, although it must have happened at some point. That footage probably ended up on the cutting room floor. I don't know about "direct to video;" I think I saw it on cable TV in the 80s.
Another interesting thing about the movie is that the pie fight features several other actors on the downside of their careers. Peter Lupus, the strongman in "Mission Impossible" and Robert Mandan, a character actor who I think was on "Soap" and other sitcoms.
Also, there's a standard name Hollywood writers and directors use when they're too embarrassed by the final product to put their own name in the credits: Alan Smithee. There were so many for this film that there's Smithee, Smithee Jr., and I think a Smithee III.
Looking just now at IMDB, it says Ben Stiller was a pie thrower in it (uncredited) and somewhere in the film are Stella Stevens and Catherine "Daisy Duke" Bach.
FYI I have that new DVD release from Amazon, but there is nothing new there that we have not seen before. As Rich mentioned, there were 2 cuts of the pie scenes. The film was made in 1992 but due to disputes during the production where the Director was fired and the original writers/producers (the Raimi brothers) walked off the project....the film was in legal limbo for another 3 years and then it became an "Alan Smithee" film....Alan Smithee is the pseudonym used by the Directors/Writers guild whenever a director or writer wants their name removed from the credits. It was then re-edited and released 3 years later on VHS. But during that 3 year period when the film was in legal limbo it was aired on German television in it's original cut, which contained a much longer pie scene. As Rich mentioned a fan in Germany sent us his VHS tv recording from German tv...but sadly the recording he made was very poor and grainy quality, but this was definitely a much longer version of the pie scenes that aired on German tv than the official VHS release that came out in 1995, which by then had been re-cut to a much shorter version of the pie scene. I ordered that DVD from Amazon recently hoping this would show the "full" version of the pie scenes, but sadly the DVD is merely the same abbreviated cut as the 1995 official VHS release.
So...we know there was a longer uncut version of that pie scene shown in German tv, but as of this date all we have got is the old VHS release and the new DVD release, which are a shorter version of this pie scene.
As critics have pointed out, the film is really terrible and impossible to sit thru without reaching for the fast forward button. But while it is bad film, it still has one distinction....as of this date, of being the largest ever pie scene staged on film in cinematic history...cos it beats "Battle of the Century" and "The Great Race" on every measurement you care to make...i.e..
- the most amount of pies used in a movie scene (over 6000) - the most amount of people in a pie scene - the most amount of women pied in a pie scene - the most amount of time taken to shoot a pie scene (10 days)
Lets hope the upcoming Three Stooges 2 sequel film will do a decent pie scene this time.
Kudos to Mark for having more info than I. Even with the crap video quality, I was still happy to see the longer edit, though. (Also remember this was the 90s... Pre-HD video... My standards were MUCH lower.)
The fact that it actually aired, officially, in Germany, and wasn't just a "bootleg cut" (as I suspected) does bolster the chances of this finally surfacing. For those who care, Traci Lords STILL doesn't get pied in this cut (I suspect they just "applied" pie to her face as per her contract)... But Amy Y gets plastered. WAY better than the existing edit. There's also many more female hits (and male hits, of course), most better than the final version.

Since the uncut is really bad quality and probably not suitable for a cliptape, mind tossing it up on youtube?

Would a German DVD have the German TV version? I'll bet you have the equipment to play and transfer a European-format disc.
Amy Yasbeck gets hit a few times on camera, plus gets shoved head first into the cake. You don't really see anything when she's pushed in because that portion of the cake is fake, but you do see her seconds later doing dialog with her face and hair fairly well covered.
Traci Lords walks off camera and show ups later in the scene covered in cream that had been placed on by hand.
There are other hits during the scene that are better than either of those two. I agree with SMess. The lady in blue's hit was always my favorite too.
It used to be that you can get this from NetFlix or Redbox. Not sure if they still provide it.
Still waiting to see if another film with production issues ever releases. Spring Break '83 had issues due to cast/crew not getting paid, but has pie fight with girls in bikinis and Downtown Julie Brown getting pied.

Wow, would LOVE to see Catherine Bach in more WAM scenes, as she was a sexy all American girl next door (if you lived next to a Goddess). The sexy star of late 70's till mid 80's sitcom "The Dukes of Hazzard", who played Daisy Duke, the curvy cousin of some dodgy "good ol' boys". The gal who patented the term "Daisy Dukes", which came to describe ALL denim short shorts, she's no stranger to WAM and sexy scenes. She had a brief quicksand scene in season 3 episode 8 ("Ba Ba White sheep") in the 2 minute youtube clip below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_UDYC-Z7QU Starts about 55 seconds in and features her jiggly bra-less running too. The next clip is a montage but features her being pulled out of the mud (at 2:45 sec) and pieing a guy (at 2:54) after obligingly bending over; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQEGbp_uBQQ! She also did some dunk tank stuff on a late 70's show called "Battle of The Network Stars" in a VERY tight one piece here;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6KE0thfu84 and here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8OcVQ_Ss_0 . The only nude scene I think she's done was in a film called "Crazed" in 1978, but I wait to be corrected and there may be more messy stuff out there. Enjoy!
Thanks, Piesub! Man was Catherine Bach hot! Brings back all of those Friday nights in my High School days watching this show for something wam-related to happen to her. Her getting pied would probably have put me in a weekend long catatonic state.
FYI sadly while Catherine Bach and Stella Stevens were in earlier cameo scenes in that film "Nutt House" both of them were AWOL from the pie fight finale scene....and that has to be "The Crime of the Century" to not deploy them in that scene,
Neither of them have ever done pie scenes that I know of...but they both did some decent mud scenes.
